I think there's plenty of good music being made in every era. Some decades are more influential and lasting than others (60s, 90s in particular).

You can never tell. Living through the 70s it felt like a decade that would have zero influence. Now it seems like a very influential decade.

My guess is all decades are equally influential, but the influence just sloshes around between genres and tastes. Just like the concept of a "generation," a musical decade is arbitrary and meaningless.

Also, our tastes change as we change. My favorite decade has moved from the 50s to the 80s to the 30s in my lifetime and I'm not done yet.

Hockey chat during the Gophers game brought me back to this. Tremendous: Atmosphere - Freefalln' Such a lyricist in a genre full of repetitive schlock.

Just when I thought about it a few days ago, unsurprisingly there are a number of solid "Trump" parodies of the POTUSOA song "Lump" in the last 12-18 months. YouTube "Trump Lump" when you're bored.

                  Still great.

Is there anything like Interpol that I can listen to?

Not really for me, but you could check out: Paul Banks/Julian Plenti (lead singer/writer from Interpol has released separate solo projects under both), Editors, Bloc Party (highly recommend), Foals, Kasabian (highly recommend) and the obvious comparison to Joy Division and The National.

Go for the original: Joy Division.

LOL. They hate that comparison and so do I. Joy Division is as different Interpol as Jackie Gleason from Fred Flintstone. Also Daniel Kessler is 18 years overdue for his suicide.

My Interpol exposure is admittedly limited, but if they hate the comparison, perhaps they shouldn't be so derivative of them. Much like Bloc Party shouldn't be so derivative of Gang of Four.

Fred Flintstone isn't supposed to be an animated version of The Honeymooners? I'm shocked.

And now I give you the best song / video I've seen in years.

                              You will want this:

                              + full screen
                              + full volume

And this is one of the best story videos I've ever seen.

Que sera, sera but for me personally aside from lead vocals I find the comparison extremely lazy.
