  • D-II (NE-10) Post University adds Mens and Womens college hockey

    From SBNation: http://www.sbncollegehockey.com/2015...varsity-hockey

OK, let's not get excited. They're D-II and like the rest of the NE-10 can't compete for a D-III championship. But the women are eligible for the women's National Collegiate Championship provided they play enough games against D-I/II competition.

    And here's the conference:
    Sacred Heart (D-I independent)
    St. Anselm (D-II/ECAC-E ECAC-E)
    Franklin Pierce (D-II/NE-10 ECAC-E)
    Holy Cross (D-I ECAC-E)
    St. Michaels (D-II/NE-10 ECAC-E)
    Post University (D-II new)

That's 6 and they have an AQ into the NCAA NCC.

I'd think that 2015-16 is an awfully aggressive and optimistic timetable to put together a team. Then again, why would a DII school decide to field a hockey team in the NE-10, and not have a chance to play for anything but a conference championship? I've got to think that they feel there is something (AHC maybe?) down the road after they get their program on its feet. Only time will tell....

But it's a self imposed exile. There is an alternative, just they choose not to exercise it.

Don't blame the NCAA on this.

Post University is not an NE-10 school guys.

They play in the Central Athletic Collegiate Conference (CACC).

Perhaps they would affiliate with the NE-6 for hockey

They would get quite a schooling in that company for sure. I just don't see it as realistic

So? See MASCAC in just about every NCAA sport. But in D-1 there is always your share of the revenues.

I don't think that non-DI schools are allowed to share in revenue from the NCAA tournament. They get to go, but they can't share in the revenue.

I don't see they would get a big bump in revenue from their home games.
