A heck of a lot better than if they were laughing and hollering. A lot more likely that means they're taking them seriously, as they should. This Lyon kid sounds like one of the best goalies we'll have faced all season.

Bridgeport had one team in "commuting distance" while Worcester had two teams in "commuting distance", yet the Friday attendance was as good as the Saturday attendance. Here is the attendance for the first day of the 2 eastern regionals back to 2009 with Friday start times:
      Code:
      Year Friday Friday Friday Saturday
              2-4:30 3-6:30 4:30-8
      2014 6529 6522
      2013 8049 6253
      2012 5090 5925
      2011 7671 7608
      2010 4073 6572
      2009 8478 6883
The worst Friday attendance was in 2010 in Albany, which had no local team with fans able to commute. Best was in 2013 with the latest start times, and it was also better than the games on Saturday at the other eastern regional. In fact, in 4 of the 6 years the regional starting on Saturday had lower first day attendance. These attendance figures do not support the claim that more fans can make it to the Saturday games.

When did the TLP program start? I don;t recall, but HAA has been open for over 10 years, so premium seat holder have been at the front of the line for that long.

Last point on the whole date thing - I think the only real legitimate beef is the start time. It's entirely plausible that the games can be 4:30/7:30 in both regions on Friday to allow more time for everyone to get there. Two o'clock in the afternoon is unnecessarily stupid.

#1 offense in D1 vs. the #1 defense in D1. Lyon with seven shutouts this season could steal one from BU. BU also averages about 3-4 more penalty minutes per game than Yale, who is the least penalized team in the nation. Yale needs to keep BU to 2 goals or less to have a fighting chance as the Yale offense is unusually quiet this year, especially on the power play.

It was put in place leading up to WWA opening. Your points were used for you to go in and pick your seats in the new barn.

They sent out how many points you had and with that where you stood and when you would be allowed to pick your seats.

They screwed the whole thing up. Overestimated the demand for premium seats.
Remember they ended up running the FoH promotion where if you bought 1 premium seat you got another gratis.
Then had to throw in carrots like beanpot tickets.

All the while cheapening the comcept of loyalty points. Not to mention destroying FoH. Now you just sign up and give what you feel like. No levels. Obviously nobody saw the results of the summer survey, but they claimed that nobody wanted anything from the program (perhaps since the premium club - with free FoH seats - already fulfilled one's needs)

It's always sunny ( hi watt sodium) in Bridgeport! As long as you walk directly from the parking lot or train station to the arena. The rink itself is the perfect size for a regional though.

No seats are free. The offer was one full price premium and then you could buy a "buddy" - or companion - seat for the cost of a regular season ticket.

I guess it depends on what you call commuting distance. Last year Bridgeport had 4 eastern teams.... Providence, Quinnipiac, Union and Vermont. There of those are under a three hour drive. Do you really not think attendance would have been better had the games been on a Saturday (or at least on a Friday evening)?

You are under a misconecption about the FoH companion seat. It was never free, you had to pay for it at the regular season ticket price and it did not include access to the Club Room for the pre-game meal. If you wanted that access you were supposed to pay the $25/$30 for each game, although I know of those who got around that. The companion seat was mostly to allow you to have both premium and non-premium seats together in the premium seat section. They have also ended the FoH companion seat program.

I agree that BU overestimated long term interest in the premium seats, but some of that is on Coach Parker and the decline of the program. I believe that BU also lost many season ticket holder as well over the same time as many decided to spend their money elsewhere.

We play games on Fridays all season, why stop in the playoffs? Move them to late afternoon-evening sessions and the problem is addressed.
