Drip coffee costs dimes a day. Keurig costs around a buck a pop.

I make 14 Oz every morning and rarely dump anything. it runs around 45-50 cents at extremely strong levels. I rarely want just a cup. If I did I'd make that much.

All I'm saying is that a Keurig makes expensive weak coffee. It's only good in a pinch when I forget to make coffee at home and have to use the office Keurig.

As with most things I eat or drink, I want things that taste good and at worst, maintain a certain baseline of quality.

In trying Keurig (sp?) coffee in a couple of places, I think it's below average and on par with what you can get in a typical gas station.

We brew a pot every day and we buy whole beans and grind them fresh each day.

            Our coffee is quite good.

Yeah, I don't like the little plastic cups either, and that's why I never use them, as I said.

So apparently no one has ever heard of, or put their own coffee in a Keurig and you have absolutely nothing to offer, because all you know about is the little plastic cups. Which, as I said, I don't use.

Yes, I did read it. No, I didn't stop there.

So I have to wonder if you actually read mine.

                  Don't mention it.

                  Glad we could help.

You never answered my question of why you feel the daily cost is more expensive with a Keurig? The "cheaper coffee" you referenced at the end of the post you think I didn't read? And where did you get the $1/day? You think I go through a pound of coffee in a week with a Keurig? The coffee is the same, whether it's a drip pot or my Keurig. Exact same coffee.

Eh, I missed the part about using you own cups.

Regardless, why would you spend $150 on a machine that makes inferior coffee? Spend $20 and get a crappy 4-cup drip machine. Or a French press.

This weekend, I feel like making slow-cooker pulled pork, a creamy coleslaw, and... what goes good with pulled pork? Macaroni and cheese?

Being serious, it depends which way you go with the pork.

Mexican spices? Red beans and rice. Toss in some lardons of bacon for a special touch.
BBQ? Potato salad or baked beans or both. Same thing here. With the beans, mix in some bacon or smoked pork for great pairing.
Just smoked? Something bright and sweeter like a spring or summer salad.

I was going in the BBQ direction.

New book by Christina Tosi out next week: Milk Bar Life. Is it a cookbook? Is it non-fiction? I'm not really sure, but it has recipes from her, so I'm in.
