Way too early to look at the pairwise. January 1 is the day to start - 75% of teams that are in the January 1 pairwise make the tournament.
Serious question.
Is this a known fact, or, just your guess at what the percentage is?
I can't recall reading anything before on this topic in print or on the board before (it has to have come up, though, one would think) and it has me wondering just what percentage of teams in the top 16 in Pairwise on January 1st actually DO end up being in the tourney, historically.

I thought Priceless had a thread last season where he mentioned this was an actual stat based on the last x number of years, I don't remember what the number of years were. I could be making this all up too, but I think it may be true.

I do a thread every year on the pairwise starting January 1. (link to 2014 thread) Sadly all my data is on my crashed PC and I can't get to the hard drive but 72% of teams that are in the tournament as of Jan 1 make the eventual field.

At his graduation ceremony from the U of Minnesota, my cousin got a keychain. When asked what UW gave her for graduation, my sister said, "A degree from a University that matters."

he's just excited BU is actually in the tournament as of right now
It's more about the PotY run, I think.
bigmrg74: "You can't drink the day away if you don't start early!" SledDog: "UncleRay seems to be the most sensible one here tonight." All great men are dead and I'm not feeling well. A Margarita! in every hand and another Margarita! in the other hand!

I knew it was around 75% but it wasn't until I looked up the thread I saw it was 72%.
For last season, all of the top eight made it, and 10 of the top 14 (71%) Three others were in the top 20. I don't know where Colgate was ranked. If anyone knows how to break into my hard drive I can probably tell you
Edit: The 14 is because that's where the cut line was. Denver and Robert Morris got in via autobids.
