  • Re: TV: The League Of Anarchy Is A Bunch Of Justified Mad Men

Late Night was in my regular rotation through high school and into college (83ish - 92ish).

I was done with it about the time he moved to this new show.

    Watching tonight coz.

I haven't watched letterman since college probably? I'm watching tonight. I never really cared for anyone in the early slot.

It's a little bizarre for me coz in my mind's eye, he's still the guy in these old clips and then they show him now...

I've literally not watched in 20 years, so it's a little jarring seeing all of these guys older (including the band as it appears that the bass player and the drummer are the original ones).

So between Honey Boo Boo and The Duggars, does TLC stand for "Touching Little Children"?

I didn't even know the Duggars were still on. Seems like all I see on there nowadays is shows about obese people.

Watching the History Channel last week there was a show I hadn't seen before called "Ancient Impossible" which looks at a bunch of incredible achievements from ancient civilizations. Some are easily recreatable today, others difficult, and some still have no explanation. While I'm watching I have a thought of, 'well, this is a refreshing change from Ancient Aliens, actually refutes a lot of it.'

So, what comes on during the commercial break? "This is it. We've compiled more experts than ever before to decide once and for all in a brand new series. Premiering soon: Ancient Aliens: THE ULTIMATE EVIDENCE"

                Sigh...

I know the running joke used to be they were the Hitler Channel, but at least that was real history.

History channel sucks. H2 is better, but it is headed down the same road. History international seems to be where it's at now. Oh, and PBS.

On Saturday I officially ditched cable. I got tired of paying a huge bill for content that mostly didn't interest me.

I signed up for HBO Now, their new streaming service through iTunes. I also am an Amazon Prime member, which I've been making use of the past couple days with the lousy weather. The video quality is good, but the player through my PS3 locks up during content loads or screen changes. It looks like it's a PS3 network issue as I can get video to load through my iPad without issue.

I'm thinking about joining Netflix, but I keep hearing that their movie selection is somewhat lacking for their streaming service and they've dropped DVD service for new members. I don't know if I'm going to add any other services yet, but I will keep an eye out for what the different services offer.

I have Netflix streaming and one-disc DVD shipping. The big difference I see between those two are the newer releases. Disc has them, streaming does not, in general. I also view through PS3, and Netflix does have to reload more often than it should, but being in an apt may have some affect on that (peak streaming times and whatnot).

In general, streaming seems to concentrate on TV shows, older/classic, and foreign movies, which is fine with me, as I give most any movie a chance. If you want the latest blockbuster (as in, the past 5 years), streaming may not be the best choice for you.
Never really developed a taste for tequila. Kind of hard to understand how you make a drink out of something that sharp, inhospitable. Now, bourbon is easy to understand.

Well, I was one of the 5 people in the US that watched every episode of Battle Creek. Have to say that it got better as the season went along. Kind of bummed it's not coming back.

American Ninja Warrior started last night.

If the first episode is any indication, they've definitely ratcheted up the difficulty as they couldn't even get 30 to finish the qualifying course and went to the "furthest, fastest" tiebreaker.
