Yeah, I think the early start today and the oddly small field means that we should have a one time reprieve this weekend. So, for one week only, get your pick in before that game starts. This will not be revisited later in the season.
Any objections?

Thank you, this is my favorite game of all of them, and last year some funny things happened to me health wise. I'm ready to go.

Sunday Afternoon Update, Part Three: Updates/Clarifications!
Just to remind stragglers and lurkers: We recently decreed that we will allow late picks, this week only, as long as your pick is made before the puck drops on your game. We will return to established timing rules for all future weeks: You need to beat the first puck drop on Friday, even if it's a weird Black Friday 1PM or something similar. This is a change I've pondered a few times in recent years, to add a couple extra players, as our numbers have dipped from our 30+/40+ player heydays. I just needed the weird early game and a reminder to get this rolling. I anticipate that this will be a permanent Week One change.
There are still 4 games to drop today, one in Milton and 3 in the MIAC Challenge. Hurry up, and lock those final picks in now.
To keep it rolling, I'll make my first pick in over a decade (!), and go with Saint Thomas over Hamline today.

Since I am out already (unless you want to let ties go the first week.........) I will ask the burning question. Unless you are looking for a way to (artificially) knock players out of the contest, why the "before the first puck drop" rule? Having fewer games to pick in no way makes it easier to get the game right.

To save himself time and effort. When he compiles the list, does he really want to have to pay attention to when the pick was posted and when the game started? What about games that end up delayed due to weather, can we pick those during the delay? The way it is, he can record picks until the cut-off point, and ignore the rest.
That having been said: I think I'm out week 1 three years in a row now...
EDIT: Yeah... my last 4 years have been...
2014-15: Incorrect - Gustavus over Bethel
2013-14: No Week 1 pick
2012-13: Incorrect - St. Thomas over Concordia
2011-12: Survived through Week 4.
I apparently need to stay away from the MIAC Showcase
