“More teams aren’t calling us Bermidji,” Joyce said. “I don’t know where they get the ‘r’ from in our name, but I heard that a lot. A lot of people legit thought that was our name, and I was like, ‘No, there’s no ‘r’ in our name; I don’t know where you see that.’

She should know that Easterners insert an 'r' into all kinds of words that don't have one.

I love this line from Arlen's articular on Bermidji,

Opposing players are even learning how to say the name correctly.

It is hilarious given that the Bermidji PA announcer can't get players names right even when he is given a pronunciation guide.

at Ridder, how would you ever know if the PA mispronounces somebody's name?

note to whomever is in charge: check out the speaker placement/arrangement
if I can hear somebody yell from across the ice, or hear a player yell to their team mate, but can't hear what comes out of the speaker ...

Yes it can be difficult to make it out over such a loud, cheering crowd...

For lack of a better thread to post this, Molly Illikainen has had the hot hand for St. Cloud State with 8G and 5A during the Huskies' 6-game winning streak.

Katie Fitzgerald named the WCHA Defensive Player of the Week as well.

Gophers Dani Cameranesi and Sarah Potomak took home the Offensive and Rookie awards this week.

Yes it can be difficult to make it out over such a loud, cheering crowd...

That is a difference, Sanford is quiet, Ridder is not. Sanford is home to second tier country acts & and 1980's rock groups, Ridder hosts a hockey team. The sound requirements are different and Rick does just fine with names.
