    Still Complaining About ESPN...

    Old thread closed.

Gonna start this one though with praise.

The 30 for 30 about the Pistons is outstanding. Enjoyed watching that a whole lot.

Subscribed because ESPN still creates a giant vacuum.

Yep. Seems it took place yesterday when they unveiled the new Sportscenter set. Thought it may have been only a Sportscenter thing, but tonight watching the Brewers on the Deuce, the bottom line has been updated as well.

It looks better, but there is still too much wasted space below the line to allow for overscan. Seriously, who still sets their TV's to overscan?

This Deadspin article is going to be needing an update.

With their rebranding of a new set, it would have been the perfect time to rename the show "The Lebron James Praise-A-Thon Hour."

Depends on the season. Other certain athletes would qualify for a new name for ESPN. See: Peyton, Brady, Favre.
Never really developed a taste for tequila. Kind of hard to understand how you make a drink out of something that sharp, inhospitable. Now, bourbon is easy to understand.

It used to be that when he played an event that the ratings would more than double vs. other similar tournaments during the season. That would explain why they did do it once upon a time. Do you know what the ratings spike is - or if there is one at all now - since he became the old guy on tour and all these young pups can play the same game as he used to, only better?

It is still significant. Saw an article after the US Open that outlined how the Tiger effect is still alive and well.

You know what? For as much **** as I give ESPN, they have done an absolutely marvelous job with the World Cup. From Ian Darke calling the games to the fantastic expert panels (who represent teams from Brazil to Germany to England to the US) to the Men in Blazers this has been a spectacular showing so far.

It could be interesting to see what fox does in four years but this is going to be hard to beat.

Don't get your hopes up. Gus Johnson is going to do the U.S. games. I do hope they use some of the Sky commentators like Martin Tyler.

And the streaming service has worked great, despite being a little chippy yesterday, but that's understandable.
