Re: All Things Denver XXXVIII: On To Better Days!

What a game last night. You have to admire Minny"s speed!! They're fun to watch, but I have to go with Union. I don't want Minn. to catch us in #of national championships!

We won't have to face Gaudreau next season, he and Bill Arnold are getting picked up after the Hobey ceremony by the Flames' corporate jet in Philly to head to Vancouver and make their debut on Sunday.

Joe Colborne is a Good Guy Award Winner.

Now picture this: Jumbo Joe and Johnny Hockey playing on the same line. Brings back memories of Joe and Luke"the Goal Czar" Salazar playing together.

Monty giving both players high accolades and his quote about Leggs gives the sense that Joey will return for his senior year.

“Joey is the straw that stirs the drink for Denver hockey,” Montgomery said. “His passion, intensity and skill was evident every game despite being a focal point for every opponent. We look forward to seeing him grow and lead our team next year with his team-first attitude.”

Over the years, both here and on the Lets Go DU blog, Sioux fans have been the butt and cause of many pointed, if not pornographic, rants. North Dakota Goon to share this one from a rodent/gopher lover.

Pretty funny. I'll say it again: they'll always be the Sioux to me. Perhaps the #$%%^ Sioux, but the Sioux nonetheless. Yes, I understand all the reasons why it's unfair to compare DU's fan support with theirs. Still, I envy their rabid fans. And wish ours were a little more like theirs in terms of supporting the team (but certainly not in terms of personal hygiene).

                          SID=Surely Incompetent Director/Department

You would think someone in the SI would keep track of the All-Americans.
In 2010 there were 37 individuals who had won 44 All-American honors,
                          ADD:
                          2011-12 Jason Zucker 2nd Team
2012-13 Juho (Jussi) Olkinuora 2nd Team
                          2013-14 Sam Brittain 1st Team
                          2013-14 Joey LaLeggia 2nd Team
                          37 + 4 =41 individuals 44 + 4 =48 All-American honors

                          From yesterday's announcement.

                          Denver’s Sam Brittain & Joey LaLeggia Named AHCA/CCM All-America
"Since the beginning ofDenver hockey in 1949, a total of 40 individuals have been recognized with 47 All-America honors.

Did they forget someone or is it a problem with "higher" math?

It appears that the last time some of the copy was updated was 2008, "6 All-Americans since 2002"-- last one counted was Chris Butler.
Pictures of Rakhshani, Wiercioch, and Cheverie were added in 2010, but neither Zucker or Olkinuora or mentioned on the website.
                          GO DU !!!

David slays Goliath. Little Union beats the mighty Gophers. This is what makes college hockey so great. Hats off to the Dutchmen. And of course, the icing on the cake: The North Dakota______'s lose on a shortie. I am at peace.

Yeah, it was sweet. When the Rodent faithful take their "hats off," scratch their pointy little heads and discover 10 Canadians on the Union roster, I wonder how long it will take them to start b*tching and rationalizing.
