    Psst, the BLM comment was to show a bit of hypocrisy the group has demonstrated. Also, it turns out that BLM does a weekly protest in the Hennepin County Government Center, as I just learned. Each time it's about the police, FBI and such, but never have they cried out about the immense amount of violence happening within the poorest neighborhoods in the city, mostly populated by black lives.

      Forgot to post last night, there was another shooting in North Minneapolis last night that the #11 news crew reported as it happened during the news broadcast and just a few blocks from where their reporter in the field was located to report on the mother of a shooting victim was calling out for people to start informing the police what they know about various shootings around there or things will never change.

        Owned a house in North for awhile. Near Penn and Lowry. Its not just the danger. Its the pervasiveness of the situation. It penetrates all facets of life. And what makes it even more difficult is that folks there get glimpses of wealth that others have that seems so simply acquired. On the other hand, the people are genuine. They have family and community bonds that are not nearly as common elsewhere...they have to. So while its wrong to shut down parts of society to make their point, BLM as a concept is understandable and a good reminder of our neighbors who just didn't start with the same opportunities as us.

          Not directly City of Chicago related, but the county it resides in, Cook County, had a "Per Bullet" tax kick in June 1st. The bullets are taxed at a rate of $0.05/each center fire bullet and $0.01/each rim fire bullet. An additional $300,000 is expected from this tax.

          Cook County also added a $25.00 tax to each firearm sale.


          The county budget for next fiscal year is 4.5 Billion dollars.

                  And no doubt that will happen. Gas stations built in neighboring counties right on the county line all advertise cigarettes as "No Cook County Taxes!"

                              To be Flint, it would only have to be a problem on the South Side. Then officials could just ignore it. Since it's happening in parks that are within wealthy (white) areas though, that means it has to be fixed.

                              EDIT: If it had been Grand Blanc's water supply that had the lead contamination, you can be d@mn sure Snyder would've already been impeached for ignoring the reports, and the EM he appointed would be in prison.
