Unfortunately Chuck the one net Nyquist could not score on was the empty one at UNH in his last season that would have likely sealed a Maine win in Durham and a NCAA post season bid for Gus. Instead I think it was Paul Thompson scored off of Sirman's back from behind the net!

Long way of saying. Your Welcome and glad it's working out for Detroit!

Right now DRW are reaping some benefits from the injuries to some of those players, with guys like Nyquist and Tatar (and to a lesser extent Sheahan and Jurco) stepping up and getting their feet wet at the NHL level. Lucky they are in the East this year, and they may be the "fox in the henhouse" come playoff time. But Nyquist looks terrific, and should be a fixture in Detroit for a long time to come. DRW has long been a destination for Swedish players, so he won't be going anywhere anytime soon.
OK I'll re-phrase. Best player on the team right now.

from the game recap on the thunder website

"Late in the second period, tempers finally boiled over as 3 fights broke out simultaneously. The jawing between Diamond and Ontario defenseman Kyle Bigos ignited the brawl. The second scrap consisted of Thunder defenseman Brice O’Connor and Ontario defenseman Olivier Malka. Finally the third bout involved Thunder defenseman Lee Baldwin and Ontario forward Chris Crane, who were both sent to the showers early due to the secondary altercation Game Misconducts. The Thunder got the best of Ontario in each fight, but unfortunately couldn’t get the better of them in overtime."

Boxscore has Bigos with a fighting major as well - http://echl.com/stats/game-summary.php?game_id=11337

Even if datsyuk and zetterberg were healthy, the way nyquist is playing right now, it would be hard to argue that he'd take a back seat to anyone. Second on the team in plus minus, first in goals by a mile after missing 20 or so games and 3rd in the nhl in goals per game. Hard to argue against that.
New Hampshire: only useful for connecting Maine to the rest of the United States.

All the love and respect for what Nyquist has been doing since the Olympic break - between him and Howard, they've without doubt kept DRW in the race for the playoffs - hopefully to extend the playoffs streak to 23 years in what has been a cataclysmically injury-riddled down season for the Wings on their long-awaited move back East. But ...

... dazzling secondary stats do NOT trump what guys like Datsyuk and Zetterberg have accomplished in the league, and are STILL doing well into their 30's. On-ice leaders on a veteran team (albeit with lots of exciting emerging talents), with both having won major individual hardware during their careers, not to mention their prominent roles on the last two (2) DRW Stanley Cup teams. Not to mention both guys captain their respective national teams, and will both probably end up in the HOF someday. If Nyquist can continue this kind of high-level play for at least a few years (instead of what realistically has been a few weeks) then *maybe* we're onto something.

I will say this, though. Guys like Nyquist (and Tatar) give me loads of optimism looking ahead. I thought the "rebuild" might be around the corner for DRW, but now it's looking more like a "reload" instead. Here's to hoping anyway.

I guess I thought bigos's penalty was from the previous period.

                and WOW JOey against Kyle.

Pity that game /fight ended Brice's career in Stockton.

Good God, can anyone imagine that sort of crap flying in any other sport? Say, Tiger Woods and Phil Mickelson suddenly throwing their putters down on the green to duke it out..? Or the umpires at an MLB game standing aside while a pitcher and a batter pounded one another into submission? (And I won't even go into the possible scenarios in say, bowling...)

This sort of Mickey Mouse BS is why professional hockey dwells in a tiny niche. Time for the game to grow up, already. The state of the game right now remains beyond moronic in that regard.

That's your opinion. 90% of hockey fans disagree. However, I will say that the second someone gets seriously hurt, as in life threatening, the fighting will end. BTW....golfers throwing down would be awesome!!!!!!

Me: ...but why would anyone want to vacation here? There are better mountains in NH and VT, beaches in Cape Cod and RI, and colonial landmarks in Mass and CT.

Boss: You've got it all wrong. It's Vacationland because nobody would ever want to live here for more than a week.

The only thing I can think of that might be worse would be the NYC police and firefighters getting into a brawl during their game.
