    Re: Division III Commitments 2014-15

Rumor has it there are at least three more recruits to add to this list. From out west if I am not mistaken. Stay tuned.

If you want to win a National Championship, better stock up on Canadians. Houle gets it.

Not as easy to get Canadians to come as it was 5-10 years ago...

Don't think so! Plattsburgh is $30,000 out of state. Thus it's an average tuition if you are Canadian where as the schools for In State Students (Americans) are much more affordable. Why would any American not from New York go there if they could play for an In- State school?

It's pretty much like any school - an out of New York American player would want to go to Plattsburgh if hockey is really important to them, they want to have a consistent opportunity to win a national championship, it's a good academic fit, and/or whatever financial aid package they got made it feasible (regardless of the list price tag which is pretty much irrelevant unless you're wealthy enough to not qualify for financial aid).

Ya...just one major problem with that theory.... Unless they are getting something for free, most Cannuukks are out.

Check their rosters over the past ten years. Lots of Canadians = Lots of success.

d1 transfers also help a lot.

Not trying to belabour this point, but we only had one D1 transfer when we won BTB...and the majority of the roster was Canadian.

Kistner-U Maine, Vakos-U Conn and Aveson-Minnesota State all made fairly sizeable contributions to this past season's success.

Also helps when [1] "financial aid" is really an athletic scholarship [not sure that continues for Canadians after some of the recent issues at other schools...i.e. Oswego]; and [2] admissions standards are um...a little 'flexible' shall we say.
