I've listened to these Fulham-Blackpool cup ties (well, the one and a half that have been played so far) online, and Nathan Delfouneso seems to be pretty effective for Blackpool. I'd be pretty surprised if Villa couldn't find a use for him, he can't be playing any worse than their other non-Benteke strikers.

Classy move by Gerard Pique and Shakira: a virtual baby shower to benefit UNICEF.

They’re inviting friends to an online baby shower to benefit underprivileged kids. A UNICEF-hosted web site invites those attending to buy gifts costing as little as $5, which can buy a mosquito net to ensure a sleeping baby stays safe from malaria. Guests can spend $10 for polio vaccines to protect 17 children, or $37 for a baby scale.

“To celebrate the arrival of our first child, we hope that, in his name, other less privileged children in the world can have their basic needs covered through gifts and donations," reads a message from the couple. “Thank you for sharing this unforgettable moment with us."

Link to the Shakira/Pique virtual baby shower, since none of the news articles reporting it actually provided one.

            • During broadcast they mentioned that Villa has been in the premier league for 120 years, founding members. Gonna take a busload a faith to keep them there...and some D and some goals...and some amazing luck.

It's not like Villa's never been relegated before.

Silver Knights lose a pair to the Baltimore Blast and once again find themselves in dead last. Two games out of 4th, but all opponents have games in hand.

The woes for Villa continue as they fall to Bradford City, who move on to the League Cup final.

Best note on the match: Bradford salary 7,500 pounds, Villa salary: 45 million pounds

Their inability to defend set pieces is historical...all 4 goals given up were due to their inability to defend in those situations

One for the referees: up 2-0 on aggregate after winning at Chelsea two weeks ago, Swansea were running out the clock in the second leg of the League Cup semifinal. A ballboy at Liberty Stadium apparently wanted to get in on the fun, and tried to prevent Chelsea's Eden Hazard from retrieving the ball for a throw-in after 77 minutes or so. The ballboy was lying on top of the ball (arguably after having been pushed a bit by Hazard), and Hazard kicked him in the ribs (arguably trying to kick the ball out from under him). Ballboy rolls around in pain (arguably exaggerating), and Hazard is shown a straight red. He was provoked, sure, but man, you don't EVER kick a kid.

Really can't argue with you but that kid was 17 and he was disrupting the game; if he was a streaker or a drunk on the field, they wouldn't mind if Hazard clipped him. So, while I realize kicking the ballboy was wrong, I also don't think the youth was acting as a ballboy at the time; so, it was wrong with a lower case 'w' in my book and I don't think he should be fined or suspended. With the benefit of afterthought I would have had the ballboy escorted from the pitch, given the player a yellow and let the league sort out what to do from there.

                          And I hate Chelsea.
