with the NHL lockout appearing to be over there should be a lot of scrambling on all fronts (see leagues). Hopefully Matt Murley can get back to Sweden, with Timra. He's been, "locked out", as the SEL allows only 5 foreigners. I'm sure he's going to miss playing @ the Knick with a bunch of knuckle-heads

BP was one of 7 players recalled by Chicago from Rockford http://blackhawks.nhl.com/club/news.htm?id=650088. I assume that he still has to make the team.

Part way through the article, it mentions that for a number of years, the Top Prospects Game (evidently a much bigger deal in Canada than here in the States) has been contested between one team named after Orr and another team named after Don Cherry.

Though Orr and Cherry have served as coaches of the teams named after them on a number of occasions, and Cherry will be doing so again this year, Orr will not be doing so. Coaching in his place will be Mike McPhee.

I assume this is the same Mike McPhee who is the only former RPI player with his name on the Stanley Cup.

I tried checking up on McPhee on the Internet and found that he currently works as a financial advisor for a bank in Halifax, NS. As it happens, Halifax is the site where the Top Prospects Game will be played this coming Jan. 16, so it's certainly going to be convenient for him. However, if he's been coaching hockey at any level since his retirement as a player in 1994, I couldn't find any reference to it.

Anyone know how it came to pass that Mike was the guy chosen to take Orr's slot as coach of one of the teams in this game?
Don't know how he was chosen (see Post #163 for 1st mention) but the game is tonight on NHL Network......video interview with the 2 Team Coaches, MM is at the 2:10 mark..... http://www.homehardwaretopprospects....d721be80e80142

Still only 21 years old-he will be getting other chances.

Watched the Caps/Devils game last night, and Adam Oates has a lot of work ahead of him. These guys didn't even start playing until midway through the third period. Total lack of effort.
Glad he got a point and maybe things will get better from here, but if it wasn't for his goaltender, this could have been a big blow out.

And the team played with much more emotion and grit.
