I look at it as being a QB. Once they've seen EVERYTHING, they CAN be great, if they have the raw talent. Fleury has the raw talent, can he use experience to get better? Many of the better QBs in the NFL are older, because they've seen all the fads, all the schemes, all the angles. Why not goalies?
Never really developed a taste for tequila. Kind of hard to understand how you make a drink out of something that sharp, inhospitable. Now, bourbon is easy to understand.

2nd period they've actually looked good and have controlled play (holy crap a penalty was killed!). Of course, this means the Blues will score in the waning minutes while the Sharks stay off the board.

I'd be ok with that if it was a cross ice pass, but the guy was directly behind him, gaining no sight/line advantage at all.

If I see another freaking shutout of the Sharks by the Blues I'm rooting for the Kings from here on out. Not really, but seriously guys, this is embarrassing.

I don't get how the Hawks can press the Coyotes for 10 straight minutes, then just fall back and take it for 40 minutes, then flip the switch the other way for the final 10 only to have the OT end like that....

Will no one rid me of this floating $6.9 million forward? Seriously, Marleau, when we said we wanted you on the scoresheet, we didn't mean take a stupid effing penalty 200 feet from your own net.

I'd fire Woodcroft tonight and offer the assistant job to Roenick. Either Marleau gets ****ed and actually tries playing hockey again or he'll be willing to waive his NMC. Either scenario works.

Based on Bradley-Terry rankings (i.e., KRACH) found here, the updated (after 4/19) most likely outcomes are:

                          West: LAK in 5 (43.1%), STL in 5 (64.1%), PHX in 5 (50.8%), NSH in 5 (55.3%)
                          East: NYR in 6 (39.6%), BOS in 6 (29.2%), NJD in 6 (29.7%), PHI in 5 (52.8%)

                          Overall winning probabilities:
                          West
                          VAN 18.4% - LAK 81.6%
                          STL 95.4% - SJS 4.63%
                          PHX 88.1% - CHI 11.9%
                          NSH 91.1% - DET 8.91%

                          East
                          NYR 69.0% - OTT 31.0%
                          BOS 56.0% - WAS 44.0%
                          FLA 56.8% - NJD 43.2%
                          PIT 89.5% - PHI 10.5%

As always, KRACH is not a perfect predictive system. In fact, it's not predictive at all; it's retrodictive. Home-ice advantage, momentum, and the like can not be accounted for reliably, so they are ignored.

Tonight I plan on drinking until Jonathan Ericsson seems like a competent defenseman. Of course, there's a good possibility that I will have to black out for that to happen, so I guess we'll find out.

I know it's the most misleading stat in hockey, but Ericsson's +/- is even. Tied with Nick Lidstrom for best among blueliners.

                                1 Nicklas Lidstrom +0
                                2 Jonathan Ericsson +0
                                3 Kyle Quincey +0
                                4 Niklas Kronwall -2
                                5 Ian White -2
                                6 Brad Stuart -5

                                Breaking it down even further:
On ice for all Nashville goals, Game one: Lidstrom, Stuart (x3), Ericsson, Kronwall
On ice for all Nashville goals, Game two: White (x2), Quincy (x2)
On ice for all Nashville goals, Game three: Stuart (x3), Ericsson, Kronwall (x2)
On ice for all Nashville goals, Game four: Lidstrom, White, Stuart (x2), Ericsson, Kronwall

                                Combined totals: Lidstrom (x2), White (x3), Stuart (x8), Quincy (x2) Ericsson (x3), Kronwall (x4)
                                Shockingly, Ericsson's not the problem.

In case you're curious, here's who was defending the blue-line for the Wings goals:
Game one: Lidstrom, White, Quincy, Kronwall
Game two: Lidstrom, White, Stuart, Quincy, Ericsson
Game three: Lidstrom (x2), Kronwall (x2)
                                Game four: Quincy, Kronwall
Combined totals: Lidstrom (x4), White (x2), Stuart, Quincy (x3), Ericsson, Kronwall (x4)

And if you subtract the goals against from the goals for we get:
                                Lidstrom +2, White -1, Stuart -7, Quincy +1, Ericsson -2, Kronwall 0.
