The ECAC was the most dominating conference in college hockey this year...c'mon man!

The main reason that AIC moved up is because Yale won the title, and AIC has played Yale on numerous occasions in the past. That being said, we're talking hundredths of points.

Poor Bentley. They cannot even be better than Penn State.

Fair enough. I also assume a few schools will be dropping down a spot now that Canisius has experienced the national tournament.

And I picked them to win the Atlantic Hockey Tournament at the beginning of the year!

At the bottom of the standings, positions can change quite a bit from year to year because of how few points those teams have. If Bentley were to make a run to the NCAA Tournament next year, they'd likely move up a handful of spots depending on how well they did at the NCAAs. Of course, Bentley has consistently been on a decline in the standings, dropping from 56 to 57 last year, and now 57 to 59 this year. Again though, that could all change by next season.

That's probably a pretty good assumption, but of course, you'll have to wait and see.

FS23, any chance you will do the last decade? Please.

Usually Priceless does the decade version (albeit using a different formula). I'm not sure if he plans to do so again or not. If not, I can always try, but I have a lot on my plate. FWIW, it wouldn't be done until next season sometime.

                        Coming in at #56...

                        American International - 0.0317 Points

The Yellow Jackets went a pedestrian 12-17-6 on the season, but gained 0.0238 Points largely due to their 15 games played against Yale in their history. Their 2 wins over Yale in their history are also the Yellow Jackets only wins over an NCAA Champion. The 56 position represents a 2 spot jump for AIC.

                        56. AIC - 0.0317 Points
                        57. Robert Morris - 0.0276 Points

So you get points for beating a champion, no matter when that was? So if, somehow, AIC were to win an NC in a few years, all the AHA teams would get a bump in their points because of the huge number of times they have beaten AIC while AIC sucks?

If that's the case, RPI may be going over 100.

See my response to Tipsy in Post #10.

Also, keep in mind that this metric is primarily used as a quasi-strength of schedule for a program's overall record. In AIC's case, they had 620 wins, but had never beaten a national champion (and only played a champion at the D-1 level 7 times going 0-6-1). Therefore, they received very little credit for those 620 wins. Now that they have 2 wins against a national champion, those 620 wins get just a smidgen more credibility.

Again, in AIC's case we're talking about hundredths of points.

To directly answer your question, if AIC were to win the title in the next few seasons, then yes, AHA teams would get a bump in their points. However, I would argue that if AIC were to win a title, then at least some of that credit should go to their conference mates that they played to get their program to the level necessary to win a title. Moreover, AIC winning a title would add a certain level of legitimacy to the AHA, and that should be reflected by the programs in that conference getting a little boost.

RPI definitely benefitted from their over 100 games (and over 50 wins) against Yale. As for going over 100...we'll have to wait and see.
