very cool stuff.
Penn State coaches recently got a virtual view of their soon-to-be new home.
Construction is on schedule for the opening in the fall of 2013.

very cool stuff.
PSU has a great department of Architectural Engineering and I've worked with a dozen or more grads of the program over the years. Good to see they remain on the cutting edge of the technology.
'Hockey Valley' .. very cool![]()
Will be worth a visit no doubt.

While I'm still a bit ambivalent about PSU hockey starting up due to the whole B1G and conference shuffle-up killing off the WCHA for all practical purposes, since they ARE starting hockey, I'm very glad to see that they're doing it right. Looks like it should be an amazing arena, and I love the tech behind being able to do that kind of walkthrough.
Here's the online view of the construction. Weather has been great so construction is ahead of schedule!

I'm impressed, curious to see how it works out.

From what I've seen in the schedule speculation thread Penn State will be coming to EL for a series in January, and will be or has the chance to face OSU in a tournament at RMU. I believe the other Big Ten team possibility is Wisconsin. I didn't see anything about Minny or NoDak but they have many-a-game to fill so who knows.
How good are they going to be? I mean, they're still playing a couple club teams this year. Is this Nittany Lion roster anything like a D1 team, or will I be seeing 10-0 and 12-1 scores when they come to Munn?
Go Green! Go White! Go State!

The 2012-13 roster is here. There's some good talent there. I'm biased of course, but I think they could do alright most nights.

Wow...players from 12 different states and 4 different provinces. They might be the most geographically diverse team in the country. Good luck next season and in the B1G...it would be fun if PSU was able to have a strong program from the get-go, as it might encourage other schools (especially B1G schools) to start D-1 Hockey programs.

Very cool!
Not sure about year 1, but since they are ineligible for the NCAAs next year, it is a question worth asking. As for year 2 I would say no because they will be inaugural members of the BTHC and will play a full conference schedule. Also if teams were given an exemption for playing Penn St in year 2, that would mean that 20 of the 60 total games in the first season of the BTCH are exempt, and that would not be cool.
