  • Union Hockey Offseason Thread - That was fun...

An amazing season has drawn to a close, so the offseason is here.

Post any offseason news and notes here.... only 6 (long?) months until the puck is dropped at Messa again.

Here's what some of Union's 2012-2013 schedule might look like

    2012-2013 schedule: http://www.unionathletics.com/schedu...x?schedule=265

Based on RPI's previously announced schedule, here's what some of Union's might look like. There's likely several OOC games not listed that aren't known yet.

    11/2 – at RPI
    11/3 – vs RPI
    11/9 – at Harvard
    11/10 – at Dartmouth
11/23 – vs Penn State (Schott reported on this possible two game series in December)
    11/24 – vs Penn State
    11/30 – vs Quinnipiac
    12/1 - vs Princeton
    12/7 – at Brown
    12/8 – at Yale
TBD late December - play in Catamount Cup @ Vermont
    1/11 – at Princeton
    1/12 – at Quinnipiac
    1/18 – vs Cornell
    1/19 – vs Colgate
1/26 – RPI (non-league, possibly at Times Union Center as per Schott)
    2/1 – vs Dartmouth
    2/2 – vs Harvard
    2/8 – at Clarkson
    2/9 – at St. Lawrence
    2/15 – vs Yale
    2/16 – vs Brown
    2/22 – at Colgate
    2/23 – at Cornell
    3/1 – vs St. Lawrence
    3/2 – vs Clarkson
You won't be playing 2/2 vs. Harvard, given that 2/4 is one of the days of the Beanpot. That game will likely be moved.

Speaking of schedules, Schott reports Union will play a two game set at Bowling Green on Oct 12-13. Schedule above edited.

Looks like plenty of OOC games left to schedule. So far as Zajac is concerned, good luck to him. I assume an ATO means no pay?

          Correct.

Under the agreement, the player shall receive no salary, bonus (of any kind) or any other form of compensation. He does not count against the cap.

Just was thinking... it would be pretty fun if Kinkaid started in goal this weekend and Zajac played as well.

So far as I know there is still space available to the year end Banquet this Sunday. It should be a great event. http://www.unionathletics.com/news/2...x?path=mhockey

It always is. We'll be there. After that a long summer 'til October and hockey rolls around again.

Does anyone know what recruiting is looking like for next year? Are there any signals that it is picking up? Any 6'5" forwards? Hope this year makes recruiting easier and more productive. Going to be hard to replace the leadership.

I dont know much about recruiting but according to the NHL Central Scouting website there is an incoming player who is ranked in the Top 200 draft eligible players who is committed to Union. Forgot his name.

I think you're referring to Tim Boyle, younger brother of NYR Brian Boyle. Gostisbehere is also in the top 200 but of course we already have him, for the time being or at least until he puts on another 25 lbs. or so.

Kelly Zajac is in the lineup tonight for the AHL Albany Devils at the TUC. They also have games tomorrow and Sunday.

Who has the biggest cap hit in NHL history?

                            Answer - Jeremy Welsh.
