      And this is how you control the scope of the discussion. Now you can use the Poutrage Party's reflexive insanity against them. Start people talking about the possibilities and their minds expand. The great project of the last 30 years of plutocratic rule has been to close people's minds off on everything substantive (health care, taxation, redistribution, education) to only a tiny portion of the spectrum of ideas on the farthest right, calling everything else "impossible." And the mainstream Dems have gone along with it, mostly out of fear but in part because they themselves come from the richest families in the country and see nothing wrong with gross inequality as long as every identity group has equal access to it.

      But that is merely, as the song goes, "privilege extended."
