I understand your position, but just as an FYI, most WCHA members aren't UW, UM, tOSU size. UMD is about the same size as St. Thomas, sub 10K, and Bemidji is just a little over half the size of those two. Larger than Colgate, but not really Goliath....

This isn't a new issue; see UMD 2001-02. International players have been dealing with this for a while now. Minnesota dealt with it in 2009-10, but with less impact in terms of players involved. The Gophers were the best WCHA team until Raty left for the Olympics, but struggled while she was gone. When...

I'm not sure how any coach will be able to recruit enough top players to Bemidji to get the Beavers into the top half of the league. For all that most of us think Idalski has done well at SCSU, all that he has to show for it is two .500 seasons. Maybe MJ or Muzzy should cement their legacy by moving...

If that's all the fun you can muster for UW, I'm not seeing how much fun the BSU replacement would have been. A good "Shannon Miller" to Madison rumor could have gotten us through the summer....

You'd best start speculating about MJ's replacement now, so that when he announces his retirement, you don't have your fun ruined....

The other exception that I know of is for national-team centralization. In the fall of 2017, Cayla Barnes played five games of what would have been her frosh season, then went off in search of a gold medal. Her first season was then 18-19, 19-20 was her sophomore year, ignore Covid, another Olympic...

I was thinking that before reading your post. It was an easy sport to ignore when nonthreatening B.T. schools were winning titles, along with UMD and Clarkson. But if tOSU can start listing them, it's lucky that they have that FB championship to ride for the next decade....

From the posted link:Grant, it's come to this ... BC? BU? Same thing....

You're right; Yale had generational players overlap with Hartje, Dalton, Welch, and Seitz. To have the latter three all leave at the same time understandably left a bit of a void....

There has been some evolution in media coverage. In the early years, about the only time I remember a women's NCAA hockey mention on ESPN, outside of the obligatory "congratulations to so-and-so on winning the NCAA women's ice hockey championship," was when the Tom Mutch scandal broke at BC....

Doesn't really belong here, but there isn't a Delaware thread, and I'm too lazy to look for a CHA thread:

Minnesota has historically done okay with kids from Mission, even though geography would favor Wisconsin. I'm sure that having Bozek helped to get Sidney Peters, Cara Piazza, and Sophie Skarzynski. Murphy and Huber were a later wave.
The province of BC is the other place where they've made inroads....

This particular issue isn't one caused by tOSU. We just saw the first Minnesota HS product win a Kaz at a program other than UM.
Bally Sports North has several times aired a feature where Audra Martin sits down with Stecklein, Brandt, Pannek, and Cameranesi to talk about their athletic...
