At this time of year once UNH is done (which as of the last 10+ years is every year... ugh) I just become a fan of good hockey.
This game was horribly one sided on the officiating front. There were some clear penalties on DU that were very similar to things BU was getting called for that...

Side comment - boy did BU get hosed yesterday. BU might not have scored if given a Power Play but wow did that crew missed a bunch of calls, a couple pretty egregious. This time of year with UNH out I generally just root for good hockey, the game was good but the third team on the ice was bad....

You did cherry pick just a little on these quotes.
“That’s a big deterrent,” Pecknold said. “Not having your own rink or having a bad rink is a big deterrent in recruiting….Kids want to go play in a nice facility. They want to have a nice locker room, they...

Well this changes my perspective on you Potluck.
My view is all jobs have challenges. I just don't want MS7's less than average performance being excused away on scoreboard, ice size, facilities, etc. If it was ALL about facilities than UND should have more than 1 national title since...

WOW - sucks for Maine and I think it sucks for UNH too. I was depending on you guys to be good again to shame UNH into actually doing something.
Side Note: Carolina pulled Brett Pesce out of UNH after 3 years in Durham and he played 69 NHL games the next year. They also pulled Jaccob...

Those upgrades are from a grant announced in January. So, yes the hockey teams rise is before the facilities....

Forget your real estate hypothetical. It doesn't work the universities are all different. Education, location, campus, coaches, etc. etc.
Let's look at Maine vs UNH hockey.
Some would say UNH better location, slightly better education. Maine has shorter and more prominent...

So your argument was 16 year old's need to "see it" and the Whitt is why we got Bogie, Nolan, Mowers, and Krog. When noted they all committed when the building was at best a dream/hole in the ground. You come back that it was announced with "great fanfare" in 1992.

Me too!
I see you joined the message board in 2013, so there is the potential my perspective is different from yours. I know it has been a decade since the last 20 win season and 11 years since the last NCAA trip and that has drastically lowered expectations. (Note Souza has been here 9...Last edited by JB; 04-04-2024, 07:30 AM.

Don't drink the Kool-Aid.
The excuses aren't why the team isn't winning. That the excuses are being made IS the reason the team isn't winning. That attitude permeates everything. A great salesman can sell ice to an eskimo. College sports is really all about recruiting, if you can't...

See I look at this and it makes me laugh.
All these notes about 2023-24, first time in 10 years, this and that. Folks he has been here 9 years, 6 as coach and 3 as head recruiter & coach in waiting. So he is responsible for the mess.
His best note is in his first year...

I was late starting. I was convinced that the AD's move with basketball indicated she didn't have HUBS (head up butt syndrome). I was apparently wrong... contract terms will say how wrong....

I am pondering if the AD won't do it if we help a little... with an evaluation. Corporate style 1-5 rating....

It is really more the terms and the $$$. From earlier in this thread it reported $270-$275k range, so yup bad performance (presumably without competition), got a raise....

Best I can tell NONE.
HockeyDB has him on at least one team every year 1996-1997 until today (15 years playing and 12 years of coaching). Previous qualifications were the old coach liked him. My guess is current qualifications: cheap(relative), known, apparently one big donor likes him...Last edited by JB; 04-03-2024, 02:44 PM.

This coming year is also the last of the COVID years which has been a change in dynamics that is changing back. If we look at UNH Seniors
F - Cafarelli - Transfer
F - Blaisdell - DONE - Used 5th year
F - Gendron - Transfer
D - Jenson - Back for 5th year...

As noted no room for Ryan Philbrick-LD - 10th D-man and hopefully Jack Sadowski-LW wants to wait a year and play in the BCHL.
16 F, 9 D that leaves 6 in the stands every night and this probably explains why UNH doesn't seem to be in on any transfer portal players....

Reshaping is great. If there is a plan.
In my business we talk about Strategy and Execution. You got both = World Class
No Strategy and Executing = Running on Treadmill
Strategy and No Execution = Wishful Thinking
You got neither = Deep $h!t.
