By the way.....CC misses because they lost to Augustana on October 28. A bad loss. They would have been a #3 otherwise.

NOTE: The Committee is NOT allowed to do this under current rules, but it would be cool if the rules were amended one of 2 ways:
1) Amend the "No intraconference games in Round 1" rule to say...."No games in Round 1 between teams who have played each other since January 1"....

Slightly different tack....
Nest year there is a regional in Toledo. Usually that is a mess for attendance. But with this year's PWR, it would be possible to have a Toledo Regional of:
Mich State v Western Michigan
Maine v Michigan
That would be as good as Toledo could...

As a reminder, there is absolutely nothing in the handbook that says anything about spreading teams from one conference to different regions. With all due respect, Mr MacInnes, for the role you have played in the development of our game, you can lobby for such a change in future years....

I agree with the idea of Maryland Heights having NoDak/Mich as well as Mich State/West Mich. That looks like a good "Western" area regional.
In a vacuum, I agree that the lowest #1 (MSU) should play in Springfield. But this isn't happening in a vacuum. BU already has to go...

Here is the way I would think about it.....
Providence: BC v MTU and Wisc v Quinn. This is perfect. No need to change. Near home teams in both semi finals. And, 1, 8, 9, 16
Springfield: UMass is host, and as a 14 seed both CAN'T play BU and shouldn't play the 2 seed anyway....

Another Possibility:
Providence: BC v MTU, Wisconsin v Quinnipiac
Maryland Hts: BU v RIT, North Dakota v Michigan
Springfield: Denver v UMass, Maine v Cornell
Sioux Falls: Mich State v WMU, Minn v Omaha

Providence: BC v MTU, Wisc v Quinn
Sioux Falls: Denver v Cornell, Minnesota v Omaha
At Springfield: Maine v Western Michigan
At Maryland Heights: North Dakota v Michigan
If Denver wins: At Springfield: Michigan State v UMass. At Maryland Heights: BU v RIT

Are you a UMass fan, or do you just want chaos for the committee?...

RIT up 4-2 with a minute to play. No worries about AIC and their home ice.

As was said last night, it goes by the Omaha v Denver game. Except for one lone situation. I'm from the west, and CC hasn't had a bid for many years, so I say "Go Omaha".
Quick bracket:
If UMass:
Prov: BC v MTU, Wisc v Quinn. Spring: MSU v UMass, Maine v WMU. Sioux...

And....here we go. St Lawrence and Cornell.
ETA: Half way through the first, 1-0 Cornell
14:00 left in the 2nd. Cornell 2-0
End of 2. St Lawrence out shooting Cornell 23-21, but score is still 2-0
St Lawrence scores 5 minutes into the 3rdLast edited by Numbers; 03-23-2024, 05:51 PM.

As far as I know, this is correct. But it is a flaw in the system, when something as important as who qualifies for the NCAA tourney is decided by such a fluky margin. A 5th decimal place calculation could be literally the difference between some game across the country, involving 2 random teams,...

This....
13. Cornell, AIC, BU, Sparty, Omaha.............CC 499 > UMASS 496 - CORNELL 13th/12th? (tied 522 w/ WMU, but says WMU "wins")
From the above post, is the craziest scenario.....IF and I mean IF, the committee gives Cornell the 12 spot. That would leave WMU and...

If both Cornell and Michigan State win, then the last spot is determined by CC being in if Omaha wins, and UMass being in if Denver wins....
