For sure cuts happen but this no doubt will have a detrimental effect on recruiting efforts going forward. Advisors, parents and recruits watch all this and as you know the recruiting trail is caddy and other schools will let recruits know about this. Not a good look IMHO....

Yeah, always a good look cutting players you brought in that you spent resources and $$ to recruit....

News out of the Men's Team
Smith had a meeting with the sophomore class excluding Muzzatti and Smolinski. The players were told they can come back as students but not members of the men's hockey team.
Here are the Players pushed out:
Cherepak
Ardanaz
Evans
Ciccarrello...

Random thought - Jared Wilson was a stud and had an AHL career. Apps and Nolan recruit. Willy was super nice kid too....

Agree about Dmen. Good teams are built from the goal line out. There was a lot of issues with their positioning this year especially around the blue paint. That's coaching IMO....

Respect your opinion. I don't want to relitigate but players like Reilly, Burgess, etc. were good gets at the end. Nolan was an outstanding recruiter. I think even at the end of his tenure the league was starting to lose luster. We're seeing it now with the league's weakness in general. One thing...

Really, really good hair! Seriously, SA was a good recruiter and evaluator of talent....Last edited by AspyDad; 03-26-2024, 01:13 PM.

Joe use to post here. I follow him on X and has a hockey podcast I tried to screenshot and put all of them on but alas I'm tech challenged....

Well done. I agree with TroyBoy's thinking. If this is allowed to continue Dr Bowers and Dr Schmidt own this. Let's not lose Kirk...

SLU going to the final demonstrates the parity in the league and along those lines the weakness of the ECAC. Not too long ago SLU had upheaval with Morris and even a law firm came in to look at the climate of the program. No reason that shouldn't be us in the Final. I'm starting to think it's a $$$...

Appreciate this and your realistic and reasonable posts that you proffer regarding the state of the program. Murls is a person that we should be listening to, Troy guy, one of the best the program has produced and clearly looking to make things better. ....Last edited by AspyDad; 03-20-2024, 09:42 AM.

https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcas...=1000645324482 Pick up at the 40 minute mark. Murls and host think Kirk would be perfect for Coach of RPI. Go figure....

Wouldn't be surprised to see Kirk McDonald on short list for Bowling Green and Lindenwood vacancy....

that Princeton team that won the ECAC was one of fastest teams I have ever seen in the conference. They had wheels....

It's good to see your posts. Always enjoyed our spirited back and forth back in the day. So much excitement back in the day, the Troy faithful (and I imagine the students) loved going to those games on Friday and Saturdays....

I do agree with much of the sentiment about the lack of support for the program being a big issue. I look at RIT and the support shown by admin and their recent success as a possible path forward for our storied program. Remember when Dr Jackson said there was going to be a 10 million dollar inves...Last edited by AspyDad; 03-18-2024, 12:04 PM.

This is a good assessment. Bryan is on an upward curve and finished 9th (I think). He's built a good culture....

It actually seems worst in some ways because of the last place finish and some lopsided losses. While the sweep happened in Hamden, they clearly played more inspired hockey than they did in the regular season especially with the win at Cheel. That begs the question is why the lack of a sense of urgency...Last edited by AspyDad; 03-17-2024, 05:37 PM.

Where we go from here is a great question and your point about consistency is important. Dr Bowers can gleam some info most likely from the exit interviews that I imagine will be performed soon. Critical time for the program because if things are done right we could make hay in a weak ECAC like SLU...
