I think they did it for two reasons; one, the grind of possibly playing six games in nine days with travel and two, most schools have mid-terms in March before Spring Break so to ease the burden, they reduced it to a one-and-done. It does create more opportunities for upsets such as RPI over Clarkson...

Don't be too sure. Dartmouth hasn't been in this position in a long time. This is new territory for them. Cashman is an experienced tournament coach so that may help swing the series to the Green. Still think it's going the distance....

It's probably the only time Harvard will be mentioned on a National Tournament thread for the next several years. Or longer. ...

QU sweeps RPI - a no-brainer
Cornell beats Harvard in three. Harvard beat Cornell up in Ithaca in November. Yes, we have had a lousy season, but anything can happen in a tournament.
Colgate over SLU in two. Difficult to beat the Raiders in their home building.
Union over Dartmouth...Last edited by Skate79; 03-13-2024, 04:41 PM.

If everything holds to form tonight, we'll be seeing you guys in Hamden next weekend. Princeton dominated us last night and were it not for a brilliant performance by our goalie, you would most likely be facing the Tigers. A one-sided game from the second period to the end.
You should...

Both men's and women's hoops for the Ivies have their tournament to determine an auto bid to the NCAAs so it stands to reason that hockey would benefit from separating from the ECAC. It would depend on how the Ivies want to fill out the remaining schedule of games from outside the league. Harvard's...

To say that Princeton deserved a better fate tonight would be an understatement of epic proportions. The Tigers dominated this game starting in the second period and spending ALL of the third period in Harvard's D zone. Were it not for Aku Koskenuevo's brilliance, this game would have been a Princeton...

Don't be too hard on yourself. You were just being overly optimistic and sometimes, that's a good thing.
As you say, Bellamy stepped into a very tough situation. That said, coming from a national program like UMD, one expected she would have more of an effect on the...

So, we get Princeton again for the one and done next Friday evening at Bright. Another subpar weekend in what has become a recurrent theme this year. Not to mention that Brown came in with a depleted roster and we still could not take advantage.
I also did not think that the men's program...

Okay, so it all comes down to tonight. A win in either regulation or OT gives us 8th place and possibly 7th if SLU loses to Quinnipiac and we beat Brown in regulation. Princeton faces Clarkson which needs a win and a Dartmouth loss to finish in the Top Four. Yale plays Dartmouth with the Green needing...

I wasn't concerned about the capacity for non-hockey. My point was hockey attendance only and building an arena today for only 2200 makes little sense unless their studies show that 2200 capacity will not be exceeded repeatedly. Certainly, you'll have trouble attracting NCAA regionals. 3000 would have...

You defeat your argument within the post. If Messa is not a D-1 rink, then how do you expect Union to compete on a national stage with an inferior building? You will have major problems attracting talent w/o a first-class facility even with athletic scholarships.
Also, why keep Messa as...
