Agree 100% Doc. The cliche is just that because it is true...defense is 3/4 effort and attitude, which is why this year's team was really disappointing. You don't have to be a five star kid to play strong defense..it is the will and attitude to defend...and too many times we didn't have that this season....

First ECAC domino to fall. Princeton parts ways with Ron Fogarty following his 10th year as head coach of the Tigers. He finishes with a record of 90-169-27. One ECAC championship and NCAA appearance.

Well, I'd like to take this opportunity to remind everyone of the issues plaguing the women's team. According to USCHO, the current coach sports a head scratchingly bad .303 WP. This, despite having recruited some really talented players over the years. It could (should?) be argued that the larger,...

I agree with much of this. However, for me, Lee is a coin flip in the cost-benefit analysis. He has legit speed and skill, but as has been agonizingly well documented on this forum, he has a keen knack for taking bad penalties in bad areas at bad moments in games. His situational intelligence needs...

I agree with most of this. Lee has been a coin flip in the cost-benefit analysis. He has legit speed and skill, but he often hurts us by taking bad penalties--- often in bad areas and in bad moments in games. If he could amend his game in the situational intelligence department, he'd be a clear cut...

Ken Schott's playoff preview article on the weekend series'. He mentions RPI's "awful season" and whether Smith could be in trouble, which is the first I've seen in writing. It certainly hasn't been mentioned on any TV or sports radio programs.

Messa rink is substandard. Period. It doesn't come close to today's standards for ADA compliance or building code, not to mention creature comforts.
I have not read anywhere that Messa will be kept as an ice sheet for practices, once the new arena is built. Given that new exercise and training...Last edited by Wicked Slappaahs; 03-01-2024, 08:33 AM.

Lindenwood fired their inaugural DI coach Zombo...and so the coaching carousel begins. He was 13-40-5 at the DI level following his coaching them to a club program natty.

He is a nice guy and does represent the institution well. Unfortunately his W-L record hasn't been nearly as successful as the RPI faithful had hoped...leaving his future in Troy in a bit of question.
Given what Colgate, Dartmouth and Union have been doing with first time head coaches, the locals...

All of this is true. Also, the school gains cost certainty for the next 25 years regarding the hockey facility. Given today's perilous fiscal realities for most northeastern universities, this is a big deal. Union won't have to face any emergencies such as when a compressor goes down or there is...

I made the mistake of looking at some ECAC team stats yesterday....and was shocked by how many categories Union was near the top of the league (I'll spare you the details...).
This was achieved by a second year head coach who inherited a rather depleted roster. Point being, in a very short period...

Since the 80s glory years my family and many friends and a great many on this thread have faithfully cheered and followed this program around the country. I believe we've reached the low point in my lifetime...and I take no pleasure in admitting this.
Effort and good intentions aside, sometimes...

Times-Union preview piece on the weekend games. Suffice it to say, the action shot photo sums up the season in a nutshell...
