My heart sank when I saw Victor in net yesterday, and CU played perfectly once they got the lead.
And, yeah, go to Lynah if you can. Great old barn in a fun college town. Can be a tough ticket, though, so buy them early....

Anyone else playing a local bracket? I've been running one for decades, and as a general rule, the winner of the contest knows absolutely nothing about college hockey...
And that's fine. (A few years back, the winner avoided Miami because "they don't have any ice in Miami in April!!!")...

DU getting ousted in the first round, I doubt.
I'm pulling for UMass, but they have trouble putting entire games together this year. I don't think that being in Springfield will matter much.
(The Mullins might, but not so much Springfield.)...

I'm playing two brackets this year, and I'm going to have RIT abscond with an upset over BU in one of them.
Just taking a flyer on that one, but RIT isn't bad, and they're probably very happy to be in the mix, while BU must feel wronged to be shipped out as a #2 overall seed... Could be...Last edited by Fishman'81; 03-26-2024, 08:39 PM.

Playing everyone in your conference four times during the RS isn't half as dumb as the usual idiocy of the one-off conference tournaments constituting the be-all, end-all in terms of the NCAA berths.
(In fact, that makes far more sense, as far as granting AQ's.)...Last edited by Fishman'81; 03-24-2024, 08:50 PM.

Bite your tongue, if you please.
As Big Red said, this isn't the completely talent-deficient goon squad it once was, but it isn't a fun team to watch either, on the very little evidence I've witnessed.
(Yup, just two games.)
But Cornell is playing with house money....Last edited by Fishman'81; 03-24-2024, 08:05 PM.

I think it might have something to do with the refs knowing that Cornell's style is very hands-on, and as a result letting stuff go in deference to Schafer (he's been there 20 years) but IDK.
I am surprised that they have drawn fewer penalties than has had Maine, though....Last edited by Fishman'81; 03-24-2024, 02:07 PM.

There's nothing wrong with Boija.
Get your prescription checked, Grampie....

Might be the best game Maine has played all season. Dominated for long stretches against a high-rent opponent, but didn't enjoy Bounce One. And, to be fair, Caron found every loose puck, somehow.
("That's hockey", as someone once said.)
Barr has this team ready. I...

I came here to say basically the same thing. You beat me to it, and hit all the salient points.
UU was a bounce or two away from tying that thing today, but Hobart simply was a bit better.
Utica ought to be right back in the FF mix next year, and maybe go deeper into the PS......

My take:
1. That first goal was key. Roberts never saw it due to the Hobart traffic in front of him, and that tally was the the de-facto GWG, in retrospect.
2. Roberts was the first star, if one is completely objective. He made more big saves than did Beaver, but Hobart generated...Last edited by Fishman'81; 03-21-2024, 05:45 PM.

Not so sure, but I admit that I don't remember exactly what the prices were, but I DO remember that it likely priced-out the Utican on the street who might have shown up simply for something to do.
This year, it'll set you back $45 to see all three games. It was probably something like...
