Hello, and welcome to the newest incarnation of USCHO.com's message board community, the USCHO.com Fan Forum!
We hope you enjoy this feature. In many ways it should prove to be easier to both administrate and use.
The basic layout and structure remains the same. We tried to keep it as similar to what you're used to as possible.
As you might imagine, there are some new features and things to learn with this new system. Please take a few moments to acquaint yourself with all it has to offer. The best way is to login at the bottom of the main page. You can also go to "User CP" to access the user control panel and set options for yourself.
We suggest paying special attention to the option for Time Offset (User CP -> Edit Options). By default GMT is used. Set this to your time zone to see times in your local time zone format. Guests will see GMT by default, so this is another good reason to log in when using the system.
Two features we have not enabled are Private Messaging and Avatars. The main reason is to minimize server load. You may see reference to these throughout the board in places where it is cumbersome to remove the reference, so we chose to leave it in, but be aware that these features are disabled.
We were successfully able to import the old message board, users, forums and all. While doing so we made a decision to remove all users who had never posted. However, we encourage you to register even if you do not post so that you can take advantage of the features that registration offers, such as visual notification of threads you have viewed already.
If you have forgotten your password or have any other general questions about using the system, please click on the "F.A.Q." button at the top right. It provides answers to many commonly asked questions.
Finally, we apologize for the extended period of downtime that we endured. As painful as it was, we were able to take advantage of it to get the new bulletin board up much sooner than planned. Again, we hope you enjoy it and thanks for your support of USCHO!
