Glad to see that *controversy* died off before it got started.
What will Team UNH's next selection be, Mr. Watcher???

Stick with the Prehistoric for 40 (how many are there, anyway?)

Prehistoric Hockey East for 40 pts.
This Providence College defenseman from the '70's, drafted by the New England Whalers, went on to amass 1,801 penalty minutes over a 10 yr. NHL career spent with 5 different teams, but never played a single game with the Whalers.

Correct answer: Jim Korn. 40 pts. more to Mr. Watcher and Team UNH ...
UNH 100
BU 10
MC -10

Control remains with Team UNH. Only one (1) more question left in this category ...

You remember Detroit's Jimmy Korn, don't you? He was about 6'4 and played with Willie Huber (6'5). Never saw him in college though.... almost posted Scot Kleinendorst as an answer, but remembered he had only a handful of NHL games http://www.uscho.com/board/ubb/smile.gif

As a big Wings fan dating back to the mid-'70's, I saw the Huber-Korn pairing a few times back in the day. They really stood out back then, when players weren't as universally big/strong as they are now.
I know the Wings moved Korn up to forward on a couple of occasions to try to get him the heck away from his own end. Neither of those guys were very good skaters or puck handlers. But they would drop the gloves!!
Waiting for Team UNH's selection (ignore if this passes in cyberspace) ...

Huber would drop the gloves when he was younger, but he was big as opposed to being a tough guy or "goon". But I don't think the words "Willie Huber" and "finesse" got combined in too many scouting reports.
My fleeting memories were mostly of Huber cheating like a bast!d on the offensive end, and always getting caught in deep on odd-man breakouts for the opponents.
I'm not sure if they did plus/minus in those days, but despite some decent offensive stats I'd bet my bottom dollar he took a bath on plus/minus. I was glad when they finally dumped him (Rangers I think?) ...

Hey Chuck, I don't think I saw the other categories. What are they?

yeah, i know, i have a cross referencer and three names came up on guys that were drafted by the NE whalers and played at PC...
well only a few names came up...
so i took a calculated gamble, knowing you picked korn, to go for the other guy who had lots of PM while at PC.
i was wrong, but considering how fast you have been, i had to take a calculated gamble.
