Bring on Miami (again?). Might have to move the game to Portland or something, ice is coming down tomorrow (tuesday the 20th).
What were the seeds (how did you come up with the matchups?)?
Just curious. Where's the final four?

Still no decision yet from the NIT committee regarding the lack of ice in Omaha. Meanwhile, here's a feature about the hazards of crashing a frat party.......back with the decision when it becomes available.

Thank you, Armen Ketayen, for that outstanding feature on the hazards of crashing a frat party.
Still no word from the NIT committee...back to regular programming. We will interrupt with breaking news as it becomes available.
OK, we managed to get to Mankato last year safe and sound, however I am a little leery to get into a car with you or her. Perhaps I should drive?
Also, a few rules, Phil.
1. I would prefer to see the end of this game instead of being carted off to Immanuel St. Joseph's Hospital of Mankato after being knocked out by one of your flying elbows.
2. No body paint. At least not for me. Just remember, what was the score of the last game you went to in which you wore body paint? 86-32??
3. We're going to be in Denver. I demand that we go to the Pepsi Center...and spray paint bad things about the Avs on the walls. Go Wings!

As a CHA fan, I think it is great that the Chargers of UAH made the tourney. I have heard from my friends agains this year, "George", "Abe", "Andrew" and "Ben" that Switzerland was getting a little old and have decided to vacation this year in Northern Quebec. If all works out, Quebec will be their own nation and no extradition treaty will be sign with the U.S. by the time the NIT officials must answer brady's charges.

This just in, the City of Omaha is doing an emergancy refreeze of the Civic. It will cost the city $100,000 in overtime and equipment costs, and the ice will be in crappy shape due to the lateness of the refreeze since there's a tractor show beforehand that they must clear off before they can lay the ice.
I'm going to ask the question that is on everyone's mind. Are the cheerleaders from last year going to be at the games. If so I'm booking flights right away http://www.uscho.com/board/ubb/smile.gif It is also nice to hear that our friends from Switzerland are spending some time in Canada. I can go visit them when I go home to the North Border this weekend.

Britney,
We've missed you, welcome back. If you can get to Lake Placid, you can definately sing the National Anthem again!!

Interesting, the committee elected to reprise the Miami-New Hampshire matchup that took place at the Whit earlier this year. Also interesting that Lowell was selected to host a game, apparently the rising attendance from later in the year paid off for the River Hawks.

Cheerleaders? We can have cheerleaders? Oh, Boy! Just like the XFL? Do they have to be able to skate?

So much to cover....
First some notes.
Fox Sports Rocky Mountain has agreed to cover the Denver/NMU game live. This increases the chances that FSD may pick up the game.
It has been confirmed that Britney Spears will be singing the National Anthem for the final in Lake Placid.
The date for the College Hockey NIT final has not been confirmed. The game will be played at Olympic Arena in Lake Placid. To date, over 4,000 tickets have been sold!
------------
Craig P. and RedHockHockey,
The committee was excited for the possibility of a nice rematch between UNH and Miami. Since ticket sales for inter-conference match-ups can be tough, even for the NIT, it was felt a little bad blood could sell some tickets. Word is the game is close to being sold out with over 6,000 tickets sold.
-----------
The Tsongas Center in Lowell was chosen as the site of the Lowell/Clarkson game based on the capacity of both schools arenas. The committee may regret this decision. Ticket sales at the 6,496 seat Tsongas Arena are sluggish at best. Come on Lowell fans, BUY TICKETS!!
---------------
MikeM,
NH Public Television is looking at getting a feed, but the committee would like to announce that FSNE has purchased the broadcast rights for the game and will air it live. FS-Cincinnati is considering showing the game as well.
---------------
Wildcat Willie,
I liked your original field. Northern Michigan recieved a bid over Western Michigan
based on three factors. First, Western was really on a slide from their great mid-season form. NMU is playing better. Second, in last years NIT, NMU sold more tickets than any other road team. This great fan support was rewarded. Afterall, we need to sell tickets. Third, the committee felt they could not afford the insurance needed for a tournament involving WMU's Brian Pasko, also known as Mr. Penalty Minutes.
--------------
The decision to invite Alabama-Huntsville.
The committee has always supported emerging programs. Last years selection of Quinnipiac, although controversial at the time, appears to have been shown to be a correct one. CHA teams have no NCAA bid to play for, so we give them a post-season outlet.
--------------
bradyszott,
Can you prove this statement?
"I have proof, a review the CHA threads clearly documents that one of the leading members of the selection committee, sought and recieved valuable items from a foreign country"
-----------------------
UNOFan,
It is confirmed. The UNO-UAH game is the first sell-out of the tournament. 8,317 tickets have been sold. One scalper is said to be selling tickets for $75. Douglas, did you get your tickets this year?
--------------
Section96,
Despite requests to flood the football field at Lincoln for hockey so that all fans could get tickets, the city council has decided to keep ice on the Civic Arena floor until the NIT is over!
-----------
Gibber,
Like in basketball, the College Hockey NIT is not really seeded. Teams are placed according to geography and possible attendence/ticket sales for the first round. The semi-finals try to cross match East and West. The final will be held in Lake Placid this year. Last years final in Colorado Springs was sold out!
-------------
jac,
I'm not sure about the cheerleaders. We'll see if they show up. Last year they wore blue and yellow and followed RPI from game to game. I believe one of last years biggest NIT fans, Engineer2000, married one of them in a drunken post-graduation party in Troy, NY.

Increases the chances to what? .001%? I'm sure that FSD will have some Big 12 Women's Curling meet that they HAVE to broadcast.
You do realize that the date of the final conflicts with the last game of the NCAA Basketball Tournament.
Stats Notes:
NMU is the only team from last year's tournament field to make a repeat performance in the NIT. Of the other 7 teams in the 2000 field (Cornell, PC, RPI, Qpac, LSSU, CC, and MSU-Mankato) only 2 teams (PC,CC) moved on to the NCAAs.
Cornell and RPI finished 3rd and 6th in the ECAC, respectively, Quinnipiac was 2nd in the MAAC and MSU-Mankato finished 7th in the tight WCHA. LSSU finished dead last in the CCHA. The only tournament they'll be in this year is the "Bottom 10 National Championship".
For those who didn't already know, Miami has played twice against UNH, losing both games by scores of 7-2 and 4-0.

Millsy,
Just so you know, and I'm sure your friends will back me up on this, Quebec has for all intensive purposes been their own nation since what you call the "French and Indian Wars" I doubt that your friends would seek refuge in Quebec, and would most likely prefer one of those nice soft US prisons with the tennis courts, to Quebec. I've already learned that US officials have contacted Molson, and are interviewing western representatives concerning their role in the matter. I've also learned that a certain Northern B.C. resident has contacted the US Attorney in Alabama in an effort to secure a plea agreement, if he talks this whole NIT thing may end up like the Olympics scandal.
I've talked to a number of MAAC people who are down right mad that no MAAC team was included, and a movement is afoot to not allow any MAAC teams to play any CHA teams regardless of their NCAA status!
If the NIT Committee has any since at all, they will be very carefull about who they award contracts to!

JohnN,
Born early but not yesterday, If I pointed out the threads they would be deleted, and besides both the RCMP and the FBI have copies!
BTW: In the interest of the teams, and the kids playing, I suggest you put this thing behind you, and as you no there is only one way to do that! In case you didn't understand, that is "BS Food Services LTD"!!!

It's nice to know that the Omaha Civic Auditorium has increased their seating capacity by 3 seats for this important NIT matchup between UNO and Huntsville.

Section96,
Apparently Mike Kemp wanted to get in a few friends so they set up a couple folding chairs in the aisle.
---------------
The final corresponds with the basketball final. I suppose I need to change that. Thanks for the update.

Sorry, I read the original post quickly hoping to respond to everyone during my early break and I missed the concessions reference. I understand now. Are you related to Elliot Ness?

JohnN,
That all sounds great!!!
And I'm glad to hear that FS-Cincinnati is interested in the game. Until I read that, I was unaware that an FS-Cincy even existed!! This Hockey NIT must have more pull than I thought if it is bringing brand new networks into existence.
And to think, FS-Ohio wouldn't even air most of the CCHA games (Cleveland Cavs and Col. Blue Jax).

RedHockHockey,
Last year when I had DISH Network I seem to remember getting two Ohio channels. One did Cleveland and the other Cincinnati. Maybe I have a bad memory.
