Word.
New York is THE Haven of Evil (okay, Hell's right up there, too)
Go Sox!
Go Mariners!
Go Red Raiders!
Of COURSE everyone with at least half a brain (ie most anyone living outside NYC) hates the NY teams, but you can be certain that those with a keen sense of righteousness (including Red Sox Nation) will be rooting for the Metropolitans if the Yankmees squeak by the Mariners.
Really, I missed you, too! (Please take this sarcastically if you are evil and sincerely if you are good. Thank you.)

I'm in a pretty weird situation. 48 people on my floor, 22 are Yankees fans, 22 are Mets fans, and there's 2 of us Tigers fans. The other two people don't care about baseball.
And what's so wrong with Hell? For a small town, it's not too bad. Why does everyone always dump on it?

everybody should root for the mets, so ex umaine shortstop mike bordick can win a world series ring.
don't know if he got one with the a's back in the early 90's, as he wasn't yet a major league regular.

Hi folks!
To answer Vic's question: a subway series isn't good for baseball, in fact it is not good for anything at all. It totally sucks! I would rather watch BU's crushing 9-1 loss to Lake Superior State in 1994 over and over again 24 hours a day, everday, for the next year, rather than watch a second of such a miserable, despicable, makes me wanna puke World Series....Does that answer your question?
Now onto more important things, like my lunch....
Today I am enjoying a hot pastrami sandwich on a fresh bulky roll, a bag of Lays's sour cream and onion potato chips and a Barq's root beer to drink.

considering that almost everyone hates the two New York teams, my guess is no, it's not good for baseball.

The Mariners can still come back, it's only 3-2... can't root for them, though.. the whole having-Rickey-Henderson thing... I can just sort of passively hope the Yanks lose. :)
I'd be sort of OK with the Subway Series, just so they can stop anticipating it, as they have been for years. Get it over with. Go Muts. I might even watch some of the World Series since Darryl Hamilton will be involved.

Of course it's good for baseball!!!
Who is "almost everyone" and where did you get that oh so idea? Considering that there were several "Subway Series" decades ago and that the sport is still with us, it seems reasonable that any "bad" effect was minimal.
I think it's silly to say it's "bad". The two teams have played by the rules, and if the Yankees beat Seattle, then both NY teams will have defeated their respective challengers. How's that "bad"?
With the rabid and knowledgeable fans at both Shea and Yankee Stadium, the whole country will see real energy supporting these teams. Would you prefer, say, the Braves, many of whose fans do that idiotic and offensive "chop", and the remainder of whom show up either as empty seats or sit on their hands?
The ratings will certainly be higher than they would have been for say, a Seattle-St. Louis series so,
(1) Most people hate both teams cannot be true and
(2) The whole country will get to see the first match up in 44 years of 2 teams in the same city for the first time for most of us!.
BTW, I'd love to see a Cubs-White Sox series...not sure I'll live that long however.

What would really be good for baseball would be a Minnesota/ Montreal world series. It would show that a small market team can compete.
**** those rich bastihd Red Sox!!! http://www.uscho.com/board/ubb/smile.gif

Here's a question...is NY really the source of everything that is sinful and evil?
I think so!
Mets vs. Yanks...who cares. Let the networks drown in their own hyped up market.

Hi folks!
This World Series just sucks, I refuse to even watch one second of it.....
As for my lunch.....if anyone is interested, Jenn?
I am enjoying a Cajun chicken wrap with pepperjack cheese, lettuce and tomato. As a side dish I have a pasta salad. For a beverage I am going with the Barq's root beer...again!

Here's one for you "This is what I'm eating today" crowd.
I bit my tongue eating lunch today (steak and cheese - onions, peppers, mushrooms). Actually drew blood. I mean I really chomped down on the sucker.
I've been eating for thirty years(and by the looks of me I'm pretty good at it). How does that happen?

My goodness Dave that lunch sounded delicious. I once again brought mine in an attempt to shed 15 lbs by Saturday. Unfortunately my Halloween costume is a little tight and I have to get into it for a party that I thought was next weekend. Of course I am going to consume some beer at jose's tomorrow night.
