4 - Scorer, Timekeeper, and 2 Goal Judges.
Since no one answered, control remains with Team BK. What next folks?

It's after the time limit so it doesn't matter if I'm right or wrong.
The only reference I could find was that there are four off-ice officials. I could not find a reference to a minimum number.

Not too surprisingly, that was a question suggested by Alton (-; There's more required for play-off games, one of which I believe is a video review judge.
Alton, could you post a link please?

After the whistle for 30 pts please.
I didn't like the word 'minimum'. There are special rules for if an on-ice official is sick or injured. The word minimum implied that there were also special circumstances for off-ice officials.
Just my two cents...

Hey! I've taken enough abuse here this week...it wasn't my question; I just checked the facts on it.
The exact wording on Rule 5-1...
"All games shall be officiated by either a three-man or two-man officiating system. The on-ice officials should be the referees, assistant referees and linesman; the off-ice officials should be a game timekeeper, official scorer, two goal judges and, for tournament competition, an instant-replay official."
I hope that was fair use; I don't want to be accused of improperly posting copyrighted material.
The word "minimum" was required because rule 5-7 outlines the duties of the penalty timekeeper...but they can (presumably) be covered by the game timekeeper or official scorer.

Sorry Alton, I thought that was one of the ones you suggested...didn't mean to get you in trouble; just that you are our resident Rules Guru (-:

Read carefully please:
Name two schools that have left, then returned to, the CCHA.

OSU & Northern.
Sorry- had a ton of people in my cube who just wouldn't leave.
Well, I thought I would be around during the game, but I guess it was not to be. I'll post a board when I get home ...

Ohio State, Northern Michigan, and Notre Dame have all left and returned to the CCHA.
Team BK, it's your pick again for the 5:00 question.
Scheduling:
I have to leave early tomorrow, but I can do questions at 12:00, 1:00, 2:00, and 3:00 PM EST (barring any other unexpected nastiness). Monday I can't do questions; I'll be returning late from the weekend, and I have mucho work to do away from the computer. With 2 more question today and four tomorrow, that leaves 5 for Tuesday (1:00, 2:00, 3:00, 4:00, and 5:00 PM EST) before Final Jeopardy, which we could do on Wednesday. Sound good?

It looks like we'll need to consult the fact-checkers on this one. The answer we have is the 1971-72 season. In all honesty (it was two months ago and I've had a stressful day) I don't remember what the sources were (but I can find out). I seem to remember one being the Michigan media guide, and I think Eric also checked it somewhere on the web. Obviously, there's a discrepancy between sources, so we'll need to look into this.
In order to keep the game going, and since Team BK (is anyone else even out there?) would have control regardless, how about we pick the last question of the day while we sort this out?

The College Hockey Historical Archives http://www.augenblick.org/chha/h_cchis.html gives 1971.

Loose pucks for 50.
The CCHA website says 1970, the CCHA media guide says 1971, the MSU home page says 1971, and the USCHO page says 1971.
If you decide I did not get it correct, that is fine.
I did not, however, get it wrong as I stated what the CCHA says on its own web page.

This gives the formation date of the CCHA as 1970:
http://www.ccha.com/history/moments.htm
All other sources I can find say 1971. The first season, which is not what the question was about, was 1971-72.
I'm going to watch The Simpsons now...that should be more fun.
