When, if ever, is it acceptable to boo your own team or one of its players?

I think I've only booed Reed Kipp, mainly because every time he touched the puck, bad things happened. I felt bad when I met him later, since he seemed like a really nice guy, but I stand by my position. It wasn't personal, and I wasn't surprised when he was cut.RPI

Never ever, but not because they're amateur athletes - so are the guys on the other team that I'm heckling like crazy.
I never boo my own team because, even if it's a negligible amount, it has to help just a little bit to hear encouragement *especially* when things aren't going well on the ice. If a player reacted negatively in those kinds of situations, he'd be called a "head case" or a "lockerroom cancer." The same applies to the fans - negativity is contagious, and there's never any good that will come from kicking your own player when he's down.If you don't change the world today, how can it be any better tomorrow?Comment
