It's time to get a thread started for the next season, and no better time to start than the announcement of the new class:

I don't follow prep hockey, but I've heard good things about Stearns and Seguin. Hopefully Stearns can add some scoring punch and Seguin will continue the tradition of great goaltending for the Tigers.
Nice write up on the incoming class. Looks like there's some good talent coming on to the team next year!

You will be pleasantly surprised with Cooke also!

Oh yeah Cookie is a speedster and non-stop hustle. Also she and Stearns have played together for several years at Nobles and all those points they racked up were usually when they were on the ice together so they know each other well.

Not yet. Usually it's announced mid-June. Are any team schedules announced? If so someone may want to start a thread.

I was hoping UMD was coming to Princeton this year as a follow-up to Princeton's trip out there last year.
Not to take anyone lightly, but it's not as tough a non-conference schedule as they usually have. And what's with the two weekday afternoon games? Trying to make sure they have the smallest possible crowds?

The trip to UMD was a return for a trip UMD made several years ago.
Not sure about the early Northeastern game, but the Harvard game early is likely because that is probably a men's home weekend as well. If you look at Quinnipiac's schedule, they are also playing that Friday afternoon against Dartmouth early.

So Sasha Sherry didn't make the National team. I'm sorry for her personally, but as a Princeton fan I'm glad she'll be back this season.

I am shocked that Sasha will not be with the USA team. Good for Princeton, bad for team USA. I think they are too old on the blue line, but we'll have to wait and see.

The Tigers kick off their season tomorrow night at Vermont. Here's a preview from the athletic department web site:

I have don't too much to add, other than that I have no idea what to expect this season (and I thought Ann-Marie Elvin was a D). Most of that is due to the two goalies having a total of 21 minutes of college experience. I expect Kampersal will be putting Cassie Seguin's feet to the fire early, and she will be the goalie that he anticipates being his starter for four years.
The offense is extremely underclassmen-heavy. Last year the freshman "fab five" of Romanchuk, Landry, Stadnyk, DiCesare and Johnson provided more than half of the offense. If they are all clicking, and they get production from freshmen Cooke and Stearns, the team may actually score some goals this year.
No worries about the blue line, with Sherry, Martindale, Denino and Endicott back there.
In Olympic years the Tigers tend to rise in the ECAC, but this league is strong from top to (almost) bottom, so once again I'll be expecting a fight for home-ice in the playoffs.
I'm almost tempted to travel to Vermont to see this team in action.
I think you will see some good offensive output from Miss Stearns. She has sick stick handling skills, and despite being lanky, knows how to use her size. When she fills out she will be an absolute beast down low.
Miss Cooke worked hard this summer, and brings impressive speed to the mix. Her shot isn't very hard, but she is pretty accurate. She will be a solid contributor.
Miss Elvin is indeed a D, but she has incredible offensive skills that will allow her to play up front if necessary. I take it that by including her in the prospectus that she has been cleared to play, which is fantastic news.
I'd expect good things from this group. They should be a lot of fun to watch this season.

Unfortunately they only played like they can for 4 periods instead of all 6.

Looking at the box score, it seems that the Friday loss was due to jitters by the frosh goalie, but I wasn't there so maybe it wasn't her doing. I will say that a weekend of .771 goals-allowed percentage is troubling, but these two have got to be given some time to get their sea legs.

I did not hear anything negative about goaltending... just that in the first 2 periods the team as a whole was not playing near the level they are capable of (and showed in the next 4 periods)

please do not try and pin fridays loss on the goalie. VT was the better team for the first two periods and part of the third. . They outskated the Tigers. Princeton turned it on a little too late. Pretty fast paced game for both teams.
