It would be so nice if a year went by without a story like this . . .

Geeez... :(
I agree. Tired of hearing of such cases of monumentally poor judgement and criminal behavior by a few in their capacities as coaches of underage female athletes. It adversely affects the sport in a number of ways. Those proven guilty should clearly have no future involvement in any underage female athletics in any capacity...ever again. That's my opinion.

EXACTLY....those proven guilty. How does one prove allegations like these 2 or 3 years later? How do you defend yourself? One way or another, someone's life is ruined!

the scumbag is quoted in the article saying he felt like a father figure and big brother to the girls...disgusting when you think he then had sex with one or two of the girls...this is too similar to that coach in michigan a couple of years ago...agree that he should be banned for life but i also question the judgement and intentions of the girls accepting an invitation to a party from a guy so much older than they were...very sad to read about this sort of thing once again so soon after the same thing happened with that michigan coach

it was poor judgement on behalf of the girls, but all the blame falls squarely on his shoulders. He is the adult and expected to use good judgement, the girls on the other hand are impressionable and could be easily influenced by a coach or teacher. He not only hurt those girls, but the players of his subsequent teams by his actions and failure to disclose this information to his current employers. What a disgusting, selfish person he is for doing this, like Vivian in Michigan, he should never be able to coach or teach young people again

Well, no need to prove the allegations, Darwitz admitted to having sex with one 16 year old and providing alcohol to both girls. GUILTY by his own admission

I think the kids involved are just that kids. He is a monster that took advantage of his authority they are kids. He should pay for his bad decisions.
The kids ,hopefully with lots of support ,will find their way back.

i don't get why he hasn't been arrested if he admitted to it...and why SSM didn't suspended him when they found out about a month or two ago.

...or by the alcohol...which i'm sure was provided by the adults...so no matter how you look at it he and his friend are guilty of wrongdoing

As well he should be. Isn't this the second person at SSM this year that has been rumored to have had inappropriate conduct with minors. I believe the dorm teacher who committed suicide this year, had had an alleged relationship with one of the students at SSM.

I know a family that had a daughter on SSM's U16 female squad this year. Obviously they are blown away by this latest scandal. Regardless of guilt or innocense...they are outathere. I suspect others will follow and their entire hockey program may be in jeoprady.

i guarantee their entire hockey program is not even close to being in jeopardy...they would be smart to hire a woman to replace the pig though

I know a family with a daughter on that team as well. I don't know what they're thinking right now regarding her future at SSM. I would certainly hope all players would stay...when the culprit is ousted.
This is exactly the kind of thing I'm referring to with my earlier comment on numerous adverse affects on the sport. The more this type of incident occurs...in any sport, the more leery parents are likely to become about their kids participating. Parents apparently...or obviously need to be wary...or should be. It's very unfortunate that is a reality.
Keep in mind there are many, many outstanding adults involved in coaching organized youth athletics. Unfortunately adults like this accused individual do pretty significant damage to that integrity.

Testimony given under oath in a court of law. I don't want to address any possibility of false accusations or unjustified charges. I guess I don't believe they're an issue in this case...where an admission by the accused has been made.

I agree 100% This man is a predator, plain and simple. These girls are considered minors in eyes of the law for a reason. I hope he receives jail time.
