The Chicago Steel of the USHL drafted goalie Alex Rigsby of the US U-18 team and the Milwaukee Jr. Admirals in the USHL entry draft on Wednesday. Apparently, she is the first woman ever drafted by the USHL.

Isn't she a UW commit?

So, if she did manage to crack their roster, she'd play one year of juniors and then head to UW?
Given that she was the 199th pick, you'd have to think she's a longshot to make that roster.

How do you find out what number they were drafted?

my thoughts exactly but with Rebecca Ruegsegger coming in in the fall its not exactly like we are hurting for a goaltender.....

If you know anything about Alex and her skills, then you would know she will be playing. You heard it here first. This girl is the next Jesse Vetter.

Yeah... embarassment of riches at the goaltender position much?
Though BC's somewhat stacked at the position as well, so no big deal.

What's interesting is chicago's not making any mention of it. They jump from talking about #186 to #212.

She is a very strong goalie and congrats for being the first female drafted. Regardless if she ever plays a game, to be drafted is an honor in itself. Having seen both Rigsby and Ruegsegger play for several years, I would rate Alex as a better all around goalie and I would imagine that she will challenge for the starting spot in her freshman year.
