Quarterfinals
GAC vs River Falls---GAC wins easily
Elmira vs Norwich---Elmira wins 4-2
Plattsburgh vs Amherst---Amherst gets the upset(yes it would be an upset)
Frozen Four
I would like to see GAC and Middlebury advance to the finals where GAC thanks them for cancelling their trip out west with a butt whooping.

I'm really looking forward to the whole tournament. I think this might be one of the most even fields from top to bottom yet. 5 teams have a legitimate shot at the title - and another great team got left out of the field entirely. Some of the predictions for the first round might seem easy, but after that I think all of the games are a toss-up.
The Amherst/Plattsburgh first round is going to be a real battle. I saw Amherst lose a heartbreaker in Plattsburgh in the '07 semis...looking forward to seeing if Elek (assuming she's healthy) can get a win over the Cardinals when it matters most.

Well I have just started following womens hockey this year and have no idea about the eastern teams. But as much as GAC is favored over RF, the RF girls are out for blood. And as we all know, come tourney time anything is within the reach of any team. Last time these teams played it ended 5-3 GAC. Even though I AM a bit biased, I will have to say that a "W" is plenty possible for my RF girls.

I do think it is possible.... but highly unlikely... I was at the River Falls @ GAC game and I watched River Falls get outplayed and out skated by the Gusties... shots were 38-14 (not that it matters... GAC always puts up a lot of shots) and they didn't even start there number one goalie... by I may also be a bit biased :D

Personally, I would like Elmira to be in the championships(a little personal bias)! LOL, but if we aren't then definitely GAC has to win!!!
I don't know enough about the west teams to make a really good guess, but GAC, given their record should win. However, stranger things have happened.
The Platty/Amherst game should be a real battle. It will be interesting to see the outcome. I think the FF weekend will be one great weekend!!

The winner of the quarterfinal game between Gustavus or Wisconsin-River Falls would have won the championship but will be prevented from attending as the all of the airlines filed for bankruptcy the week before the DIII Women's Ice hockey tournament with the exception of Southwest Airlines. Southwest is pressed into service to fly the Mens D1 basketball teams around the country that weekend.
RIT fills in for the west and wins the championship! Go Tigers!

jmho...gac should absolutely be the #1 seed there's just no doubt about it...middlebury obviously does not deserve to be the #1 seed...rit should be in...amherst should be out...the whole thing is a shame and it would never happen this way in men's hockey...again this is jmho

Adrian was left out of the NCAA tournament. I don't really know much about Men's DIII but being 27-1-1 and having 3 of the top scorers in DIII it kinda confuses me why they didn't make it. Somehow a team that was 13-13-1 and another team that was 17-10-0 got in ahead of them

well you also have to look at it this way, RF didn't lose another game after the GAC game. they had another 10 games between then and now. many of those game they did not start their "number 1" goalie either. they have really stepped it up a notch sense then. so the Gusties had better bring their A game cause if they don't, i'll be booking a flight to Vermont. again, i'm not all knowing with the east teams, but if the #4 team can get the #1 seed, an honerable mention team can make it to the NCAA tourney, and GAC is ranked #1 while RF is ranked #7 and there's only 4 other ranked teams in there, anything is possible at this point. including RF shutting out GAC! lets be real here, not a single bit of this tourney has gone as expected for RF, Midd, Platts, Amherst, Elmira, and GAC getting into the tourney. nobody expected Midd. to get the #1 seed. nobody expected Norwich to make it in. this whole thing is messed up so far. i'm hoping RF wins and messes it up just that much more!

To all you whiners - life is not fair. Get over it. Let's just say good luck to all the teams that made it. I support women's hockey and I'll be glad to watch and support whatever teams are playing like I did last year.

The 13-13-1 team (Babson) won their conference tournament, which had an auto-bid. The 17-10-0 (Gustavus Adolphus) team also won their conference tournament, which had an auto-bid.
Adrian did not make the NCAA Tournament because of their extremely weak strength of schedule. Their conference is basically composed of glorified high school hockey teams and playing a 20 game schedule against those teams what do you expect their top players to do?
They do not have an auto-bid and are relegated to Pool B, which they lost out to Hobart in. All the Pool C teams, while Adrian crushed them in winning percentage, got owned in strength of schedule by a considerable amount.
The Adrian situation is nothing like the RIT situation, although RIT's strength of schedule was weaker than all the teams they were going up against for Pool C.

Well Gustavus is also unbeaten in the 11 games after the River Falls game... and the previous 14... and in the last 11 have only giving up 4 goals... including the last 7 games shutouts.... I would say that River Falls needs to bring their A game to have a shot...

I am picking GAC to beat RF, but ...
GAC shut out half the teams they played (13 of 27), gave up only one goal in 10 more games, so they kept the opposition to 1 or 0 goals in 23 of 27 games. Of the four games when GAC allowed more than 1 goal, three times they gave up 2 goals and one time allowed more than 2 goals, 3 to be exact, and that was to RF! So if anybody can beat GAC among those GAC has played, RF certainly appears to have the best chance!
