I didn't expect that I would be making this thread so early. Bummer....

I'll repeat what I just posted in the tournament thread:

When you can go 3-3-1 against teams in the tournament, win all remaining D-III games, and go 2-0-1 against D-I teams, and still not make the tournament, something is seriously messed up.

Seriously, the NCAA is basically telling RIT we have to beat Elmira and Plattsburgh or we can't get into the tournament. Beating Midd and Amherst doesn't count. Why'd we switch leagues again?

i understand the frustration but are you upset with the system or just the fact RIT didnt make it?

I think this speaks to the fact that maybe the system needs to be changed because there are too many deserving teams that aren't making it through some system that the NCAA created. maybe the system is out of date and it worked years ago but now it just leaves derserving teams out. i dont know

Like i said before the field was even announced... they should make it 8 teams. Its even and then a top team doesn't get left out. Then again the 9th team that is left out could have a case....I don't know. It definitely isn't fair. Maybe they shouldn't give out auto bids? Maybe they should make the tournament have more rounds in place of conference tournaments? Something needs to be changed.

It is just baffling how Amherst gets in over RIT. RIT wins 4-1 head to head, pretty much wins all the other categories. Does not make sense. If they had gone 4-3, that would have made sense.

While I agree with the portion of your comment of going 3-3-1 with teams in the tournament, the DI wins - Robert Morris without Brianne McLaughlin (early in the season) and two wins against Sacred Heart (a team that would not make the Championship round at DIII), is not all that impressive. Saying that..... RIT is a sound team and I do feel that having an 8th team would have made a better tourney. It is silly that a team gets a bye right into the Frozen Four. Anybody can win this tournament, nobody stands above anyone else, and the same would have been true if RIT was in it. Good luck to the Tigers next year!!

I said a couple of weeks ago that there was someone fully capable of winning this tournament was going to be left home. Not a team that could get on a lucky hot streak and win three games, but a team that could legitimately beat every other team in the dance. Unfortunately, it was your Tigers. I was looking forward to an RIT/Plattsburgh re-match at the Stafford this weekend. I was shocked to see an Amherst team that both Plattsburgh and RIT beat ranked ahead of both of them.

So was I...makes me wonder how they came to choose Amherst

Oh....well I fell asleep and missed a lot. Don't really feel like going back and looking it over. It is what it is.

Yes, but confusingly. The basic jist I got from it is that losses in your conference tournament, even if they're to the two-time defending national champion, count more than losses earlier in the season.

so you are mad that Plattsburgh got in over RIT? or that you are going to Amherst? Plattsburgh deserved to be in over RIT, so I don't get where you are upset if that is the case.

Oh wait, your mad Amherst is in over RIT. I'm guessing RIT result's against Elmira came into play. Remember H2H is only one of 5 criteria. If everything was close they look at results over past 1/4 of season. Amherst played one more game before losing, so their winning percentage was higher. They also lost in OT by 1 goal whereas RIT got dominated 7-3.

The two time defending champion bit is pointless. Yes Plattsburgh won the last two, but this isn't that same team. They aren't all the same players...etc etc etc.

I said a long time ago that the Plattsburgh/RIT loser would be left out and no one believed me.

I think we should just forget about this...we got screwed that is it. Teams will get screwed next year too, it happens. Lets just make sure next time it isn't us.

I said a long time ago that the Plattsburgh/RIT loser would be left out and no one believed me.

I remember being sure that Plattsburgh was out if they lost, but RIT was the #1 team last weekend. I was shocked they dropped that far, especially given that they were ahead of Amherst last week, lost to the #3 team in the NCAA's own ranking (in a neutral rink), while the #2 team lost to #4 at home. Seems to me that #1 shouldn't have fallen that far. Throw in RIT beat Amherst head-to-head? I would have bet on RIT @ Plattsburgh.

For someone who said it was explained in another thread, actaully Matt didn't have an explanation for it. He thought RIT would be in over Amherst as well...

Seems to me that #1 shouldn't have fallen that far.

Apparently the top teams were so close that one loss is enough to drop at least two spots.

So, folks -- since the RIT women's offseason has begun, need something to do? We could always use more editors at the Ice Hockey Wiki (http://icehockey.wikia.com). Here's the RIT article (http://icehockey.wikia.com/wiki/RIT_Tigers); fill in whatever you know about the team -- women's or men's, really.

Where did this come from?

I thought now might be a good time for people who still are in a hockey state of mind, but with no more RIT women's games to watch, to make some contributions. USCHO is the most active college hockey community, and coverage of college hockey on the Ice Hockey Wiki is sorely lacking, since I can't do it all myself.

Hey as a fan of the west I feel your pain. One reason that you did not get in is where you play if RIT was in that would be 3 ecac west teams. After shafting GA I think that the committe felt it would be easier to sneak Amherst in then RIT. I am not saying that Amherst is better or worse then RIT they just happened to play in the right conf this year.
