Ed Trefzger of the USCHO.com E-board spotted this:

Family members and friends identified two people believed to be on the plane as Ellyce Kausner, a graduate of Clarence High School and Canisius College, and Maddy Loftus, a Buffalo State College graduate who lives in New Jersey.

The crew members were identified as Capt. Marvin Renslow, pilot of the plane; Rebecca Shaw, first officer of the flight; and flight attendants Matilda Quintero and Donna Prisco.

Another employee of the airline, Capt. Joseph Zuffoletto, a Jamestown resident who was off-duty at the time, was also killed.

The fiery crash -- which stunned onlookers by its intensity and heat -- is the deadliest U.S. airline crash since November 2001, when American Airlines Flight 587 taking off from John F. Kennedy Airport.

Family members and close friends who were at the airport or arrived from out of town were taken to the Cheektowaga Senior Citizen Center early this morning.

"We're trying to do everything we can for these people," Cheektowaga Police Capt. John Glascott said. "Right now they're grieving."

Friends said Loftus was heading here for a weekend reunion of Buffalo State women hockey players. One friend said she may have been flying with other young women heading here for the same reunion.

Loftus played two seasons for the Bengals from 2002-2004 with 7 goals in her first season and then three goals and four assists in her last season.

My condolensces to the friends and family of Maddy and I hope there were no other former Bengals among the remaining unidentified passengers:(

Maddy was a wonderful young lady. After spending two years at Buffalo she transfered to St Mary's in Minnesota and completed her last two years of her hockey career. Our family is devastated as Maddy was not just a room mate and a member of a special group of St Mary's hockey players, she was a part of our extended family and always will be. To the players that were touched to have Maddy as a team mate, Live Well, Love Much and Laugh Often. Maddy would want that for you.

i had already read up on this but find myself continuing to think about Madeline and re-reading the articles on the situation. It hits me right at the core and I feel terrible about the whole thing. My thoughts are with anyone personally affected by this loss.

Maddy was my daughter's teammate at St. Mary's for two years. I, too, find myself continuing to think about her and her family. This is a tough one to shake.

Here is a link to Maddy's senior salute as the lone senior on the 05-06 Cardinals team

I too can't seem to stop thinking about Maddy. My daughter played with her 10 years ago, but it seems like yesterday. My thoughts and prayers are with her family.

it must have been a very difficult weekend last weekend for both buffalo and neumann having to play two games under such tragic circumstances...i credit both programs for being able to play those games...must have been hard for neumann to feel too good about beating a program that was suffering from the loss of one of their former players...i have a lot of respect for both teams and i applaud them for playing the games
