Frustrates me that they aren't touring in Boston prior to the Olympic games. Surely we have the fans and the venues to accommodate something like this.

Well, you do get the CT date. At least within driving distance. As Qwest's market is largely towards the western US, it doesn't surprise me that most dates are in that part of the country. I've got 2 dates I'll be able to see them!!! :D My daughter already has tickets for the Olympics and a place to stay!

CT and UNH 2 hours either way, but Boston would have been nice!

Ah, well, Durham is essentially a Boston suburb. ;) It is a shame that they aren't doing something in town, or in the closer burbs like they did in '02 when they played the Swedes at Tully Forum in N. Billerica and it was pretty much standing room only. I know my nieces got a real kick out of watching the game in that atmosphere and then being able to get autographs and merchandise too.

I can see myself hitting up the Durham event.

The last time the USA team came by the Whitt to play the HEA All-Stars, the "One Man Pep Band" put aside differences and played the fight songs of every HEA school except UConn (who never replied to a request for music).

Thanks for posting these D2D! The residency program will hopefully pay dividends in 2010.

Under the "More from Olympics" heading...I wish I'd known about the curling tryouts. That's a sport even I might be capable of participating in...well, I could push the stones...don't know about all that sweeping.

It looks pretty clear to me that was the ECAC and Hockey East's call where to have their all-star games. It's varied year-to-year. I know in 2001, ECAC North did Connecticut, and ECAC East did Matthews. I can't recall 2005.

Well, with Hockey East... couldn't it have something to do with the Olympic sheet?

Here's an excerpt from an e-mail I received recently from the Saint Paul Curling Club (http://www.stpaulcurlingclub.org/):

Hello Curlers!! The Spring League is happening again this year! The league will start play on April 20th and play on Mondays and Wednesdays for six consecutive weeks. The only change will be for Monday May 25th (Memorial Day). That night will be switched to Thursday May 28th. Online registration will open on or before March 1st for four leagues that will play on Mondays and Wednesdays at 6pm and 8pm. Novice curlers are encouraged to play in the Monday leagues and if you have a bit more experience (2 plus years) you are encouraged to play on Wednesday nights! If your schedule only allows you to play in Monday or Wednesday do know these leagues are open so feel free to play in either! Cost is $110 per player for up to 5 players on a team. As well, you can register as an individual, as a twosome or as a whole team. Those with less than four players will be matched up with others!! NOBODY will be denied a chance to curl!! As well we are considering doing a mixed doubles league this year. If you are interested in that than please register for the Spring League and indicate you want to do the mixed doubles. This is a two person team (one man and one woman) and rules are a bit different but games take about half the time. Please call the club for details. Depending on how many register for the Mixed Doubles will depend on if we have the league. We are looking for at least 8 teams to play on Wednesday nights! Please direct any other questions to Scott at manager@stpaulcurlingclub.org Thanks!!

Hello Curlers!!
Thanks for the heads-up MBTC! I think I'll head out to my iced driveway and get some practice...gather up some of my landscape boulders of the correct proportions and weight...and hope street traffic is light when I overshoot the target. It's never too early.

The sport has actually intrigued me. Not much to watch, probably fun to play. I did once upon a time play a mean game of shuffleboard. :)

That was also the event that resulted in the permanent exile of Black Betty:mad:
