Men's East:
Keith Longo, Hobart
Nick Rolls, Plattsburgh
Women's East:
Kayla Coady, Elmira
Danielle Blanchard, Plattsburgh
Men's West:
Nick Klaren, Stout
Women's West:
Tiffany Magnuson, Augsburg
Just curious how a lady from Augsburg gets chosen? How do they choose these players? I'm sure she's great, just looking at stats and things, she's not even in the top 100 for points...and Augsburg isn't exactly stellar.
If you look at the east options...Blanchard and Coady are probably two of the top players out there on two of the best teams.
Why not a player like Jackie Carroll of St Thomas? She's a senior also with 126 career points and leading the west in points right now. I know its not all just based on points, but just seems she has had a better career..etc.

Here is the note from the NCAA on how to vote:
TO: Sports Information Directors of NCAA Institutions that Sponsor Men’s and/or Women’s Ice Hockey
The Frozen Four Skills Challenge will take place on Friday night, April 10, 2009, at the Verizon Center in Washington , D.C. Over 140 student-athletes from all NCAA men’s and women’s hockey programs were nominated to participate in the skills challenge. The field of potential participants has been narrowed down to 68 student-athletes, who are listed on the attached roster.
The NCAA is offering college hockey fans the opportunity to vote for the final 32 student-athlete participants (16 male and 16 female). Fans can vote online at www.NCAA.com through Wednesday, February 18.
Also attached to this e-mail is a news release regarding the online voting as well as a PA announcement. We would like to ask that the PA announcement be read during any of your regular-season men’s and women’s hockey games between now and February 18. Please note that there is an opportunity within the announcement to mention any of your institution’s student-athletes who may have been nominated.
We would like to encourage fans to vote for their favorite student-athletes as well as encourage them to purchase tickets to the event, so we would appreciate your assistance in getting this message out.
Please let me know if you have any questions
I'm not sure how they came up with the criteria for participants. I've seen alot of D3 Women's games this season and their are many others I would have chosen. On the other hand, good for D3 Women's hockey and I hope that all the participants do well.
Please take the time and vote for the D3 players.

I do not know the process of nominating the canidates but I have seen Tiffany Magnuson play on several occasions and think she would be an excellant representative for DIII womens hockey. She carries Augsburg almost single handed and would be a top player on any other team. Besides hockey she also plays softball at Augsburg. Instead of running her down (is it because she is from the MIAC and the NCHA got left out) why don't you support her by voting.

If you read...I said--wouldn't Jackie Carroll make more sense...pretty sure St Thomas is in the MIAC. I wasn't bringing her down...just think its wierd a player from one of the worst teams in women's hockey gets nominated, especially when the two eastern nominees are the best players on probably the best two teams in the east.
I even saidI'm sure she's great. So next time...why don't you read instead of criticizing.
I'm happy for her...I'll vote for her.

Magnuson is deserving. I voted for all the MN kids, all deserving.
The problem with this is that many of the best players are unavailable because of the World Championships. I see several players listed that I'm sure will be in Finland in April. Not to take anything away from the others, but when the game's best players are not on the ice, it is tough to truly present the women's game at its best.

You are right. Tiffany is a decent player. I've watched her since AAA. I personally just think that there are more talented players out there from both MIAC and NCHA that won't be involved in late post season play that could possibly be a better Rep. I do wish her the best.

I could name many different players to represent the D3 west... don't get me wrong Tiffany is a good player but I could name 22 players in the west that would be more deserving for nomination... Jackie Carroll, Jamie Tiede, Michaela Michaelson, Bre Bian, Bethany Murphy, Sandra Felten, Allie Schwab, Melissa Mackley, Mari Gunderson, Kathryn Delzoppo, Kirstin Peterson, Courtney Bean, Melissa Kravich, Kristin Faber, Lauren Havard, Dana Carothers, Nicole Grossman, Erin Marvin, Jodi Holland, Teegan Cassan, Stacy Kempson, Jessica Grubbs... why are none of the west's best nominated.... two of the east best got nominated... Do they nominate her just because Augsburg has no shot at making the playoffs???

I did read and quote "just looking at stats and things, she's not even in the top 100 for points...and Augsburg isn't exactly stellar." "just think its wierd a player from one of the worst teams in women's hockey gets nominated." That sure sounds like a slam to me. Maybe your still upset that a Chesse Head chose a Minnesota school rather than staying in state. Wait now I remember you don't like Packer Fans either.:)

I agree. Its funny how I'm the only one 4and20 attacks for saying it. Faber is having a great year for Eau Claire, Grossman has had a good career at Point, as much as I dislike her.

Ya thats logical.
Kayla Coady: 35 points 161 career
Danielle Blanchard: 21 Points 161 Career
Tiff Magnuson: 10 points 90 Career
Looks to me its just another way to screw over the west :)

Fair enough...
But I think you already did;). Atleast I would if I was a Point fan or was a friend of Grossmann.

If Grossman had played at UWS GoJackets would be singing her praises and saying how great she is:D . But she chose Point and has always been a thorn
in the side for UWS therefor she is evil:D :D

Actually outside of her Freshman year she hasn't done much against UWS. She's had 3 goals and 6 assists against us. 2-2 her freshman year. :) She has taken quite a few penalties to help us win though!

and what senior on UWS has had a good carrier against Point??? McClintoc 1G 0A? or is it Hasburger with 0-0? So your Point would be??? :D There's not a senior on UWS that comes close to Grossman with a career record of 66 G and 47 A thus far:) She would be a fine addition to any team in the country. you would have loved her as a YellowJacket:D :D
good luck in tonight's game. there was a broadcast of last nights game but none tonight
