I see names are starting to appear on this site:

http://www.beyondthedashers.com/files/Commitments/09-10/09-10_D3_Commitments.pdf

I was looking through some of the USCHO.com top ten rosters and I notice there are some pretty big names that will need to be (for the lack of a better word) replaced.

Should be an interesting off season.

Looks like Bethel is making a push toward being a force to be reckoned with!

I would have liked to see this post pick up a little more action. Anyone out there know of anyone who has already committed to a DIII school through Early Decision? I think I know of a few but I need to talk to the girls before I post any info.

Plus I don't want to be the first one :p

You don't usually get too much talk about this on here, especially this early. D3 is not like D1 where they commit to the school way early. The girls that have committed already, probably really want to go to that school and thats where they applied and got accepted. The Bethel girls aren't exactly all-star MN players, but I'm sure they are very talented. Most players don't decide and get posted in D3 until closer to the end of the school year.

Hm, a couple of names just showed up on that commitments site. One under Amherst and a couple under Bowdoin that I didn't see before. Maybe they'll start showing up slowly, one by one...

I usually wait to update the list when there are at least 3 names to add, however occasionally less, but usually more.

The D3 Commitments usually start pouring in once the majority of the National Collegiate committing is compete.

Last season over half the D3 recruits received were directly from the coaches.

Melanie Sherlock, Salve Regina, Colorado Select, broke her ankle in 2 places this weekend during the Tier 1 Elite Hockey League playoffs. Hopefully it's a clean break and she recovers quickly.

I think I remember him saying that he updates when there are several to add and that it is pretty slow until March/April after all the D1 commitments have been signed.

Oh ok. Fair enough. I suppose I could always talk to the coach if I really wanted to know. Then again speculating is so much more fun.

Mania - No new additions to RIT as of now.

I do need to do an update on the D3 list and hopefully I will have some time tonight.

Just curious to see if anyone has heard about any possible Plattsburgh recruits.

Plattsburgh graduates some pretty solid players

Danielle Blanchard - 2008 Hurd winner and 3x All-American
Clarie O'Connor - highly underrated player in my opinion
Ainsley Brien
Linday Brown
Shay Bywater
Tara Khan
Danielle Beattie - 2 year starter betweenthe pipes.

I agree. I also think many good players who end up playing D-3 are still holding onto their dream of playing D-1 and are "still waiting by the phone". I know of one very good program :D that is waiting for a few of those girls.

Kevin has been recruiting hard. Seen him at various events during the year. It's my understanding that several Ontario players are headed that way, but not sure if any of those are final yet.

A player has to ask themselves ( unless they choose the school for the education) am I 1.) better off going DI and sitting the bench or playing infrequently for three years and hope to get a more prominent role your senior year at a prominent DI school? or going to a really good DIII program and seeing a lot more playing time right from the start? 3.) going to a less known DI just to say you went DI and getting your butt kicked every game or 4.)going to a prominent DIII program and having successful seasons every year?
Just be sure you're getting the right education.:)

I thought that Salve Regina would be a team to contend with next year given the fact that they made it to the finals this year in ECAC east by knocking off Manhattanville. They lost to Norwich in the finals but they were physically and mentally spent going into that game.

Unfortunately, 3 of their top scorers this year will not be playing hockey next year. One of these is a graduating senior. The other two have quit.
Rumor has it that more will be quitting.

Interesting that this is happening when the Salve hockey program is arguably at an all-time high right with a great season this past year.

Anyone with any more information as to why players are quitting?
