For starters , any one know why Dartmouth leapfrogged ahead in both National Polls this week ? Might it have to do with Jenna Cunningham or one of the other players ? Or perhaps the weak start of some of the other ranked teams ? Or is there some other reason ?

Or perhaps the weak start of some of the other ranked teams ?UMD went 0-1-1 in St. Cloud. SLU went 0-1-1 in Durham/Boston. BC? You got me there.

ARM , you look to be right . We shall see where the Green polls after the loss to McGill ( 3-2 ; Friday night at Dartmouth . ) Likely ( Dartmouth ) will lose as many poll points as they previously gained - or more . Outshot the , ' Martlets ' ( 37 - 30 . ) ( Martlets ? ) McGill now 8-2 with ( only ) losses in the USA : to SLU and Harvard - both by one goal .

Only an exhibition, but Darty looked good considering:
(a) first game as opposed to McGill's 10th
(b) quality of McGill goaltending
(c) so many newcomers for Darty

One 4-min stretch or so resulted in McGill's 3 goals. Something the Green needs to learn from. Two of the goals were just from Martlets camped out on the doorstep unmolested and unattended!
Oh, it was great to be back at Thompson Arena.

Which Dartmouth players will be out of the lineup on 11-5 when BC visits during Four Nations?

Thank you dayglo . Here being the largest responder to my own thread ! The pollsters surprised me . They are seeing good things apparently that don ' t ( with them ) go away so quickly , maybe . Dropped the Green one spot . Encouraging . Encouraging , perhaps . Would have preferred H . lose by a goal to Mart ' s . and D be the one goal victors . DEFEND your HOME !!! Too , don ' t like starting this season AT Princeton , etc . , w / o more ' easy / easier ' , warm ups . What ' s up with that ? Dartmouth COULD be a [I]player[I] - experience at goal , elsewhere ( Kennedy , etc . ) ; two scoring forwards , one a possible ' breakout ' player ( Cunningham ) and probable help from one or more of the new arrivals . As to , " Four Nations " - I think only Parsons is a participant , BCWH Superfan joe . Would be interested in hearing who of the newcomers ( others ) impressed you ( dayglo . ) Is Cunningham 100 % ?

Right, we should be lacking Parsons only on the 5th. How about BC, Superfan?
I can't say if Cunningham is 100% or not, but I noted that she didn't seem at all tentative out there. Which can only be a good sign.
Of the newcomers, #4 Kelly Foley definitely had a solid game. I didn't focus enough on the others to make a judgement (which should not be interpreted as anything negative about them. I think Foley was more noticeable being on the 1st line among other things.)
In goal, Clemis looked really sharp. Lacina actually did a good job. She made one heck of a save on a puck that was headed for the far corner of the net. The 1st goal was a bad bounce and she couldn't do much about the other 2, the D were not up to snuff.

Last year our first conference game was vs. Princeton in Hanover - so I guess that's just how the schedule is going alternate.

The forwards weren't being defensively responsible on at least one goal, maybe more....

true. yet this year Princeton has already played two games v. UCONN - and split..WITHOUT their leading scorer!! and UCONN has a tie v. UNH (with a a win for the shootout!) ..so the Tigers should make it interesting.
This is also the first time in awhile that the Big Green has a bigger roster with 4 plus forward lines and that may also make a difference..
This yearCornell also looks much improved and with the Hockety East teams, its great that more teams are getting more competitive...it would be fun to see alot of close games and less boring lop-sided scores..

Agreed. I should have been more precise . . . i meant the Dartmouth skaters (all of whom should have been playing D in that type of situation)

Congrats to Dartmouth on their big win tonight over a very good BC team. Special kudos to Amanda Trunzo who was named the No. 1 star of the game. I would not be at all surprised if has a break out year.

Trunzo did have a great game; she's so much fun to watch. She and Cunningham are a terrific pair. Bronson also had a great game. Clemis looked superb in net. In general the team played well - crisp passing, great penalty killing, at least two breakaways by McMillan (unfortunately didn't finish) and several odd-man rushes.

Win here over R P I , 5-0 . Team now without a loss yet five wins . Feels good ( a notable week by any measure . . . ) And it is terrific to see Clemis getting attention ! Broad participation as well . This year four lines / three defenses . While season is stretching away before us and monster clubs to face yet , isn ' t this a credible start ? Seems they are doing what they do best and having fun doing it . I ' m for that ( and them ! ) Bravo !

Sounds like a pretty dominant performance by the Big Green this evening, and without Sarah Parsons. Any comments on how RPI looked? I was shocked when I checked Collegehockeystats.net and saw that they were outshot 53-9, until I realized that somehow they had just transposed all of the stats from yesterday's Union game (including the 6-1 score). I imagine it will be corrected by the time I check back.

The shots were definitely more even than that! (28-22 in favor of DC). The 2 quick early goals by Darty were, to state the obvious, deflating for RPI, whose coach wisely took a time out. Dartmouth did continue to dominate the period, however. A beautiful unassisted gaol by Sarah Toupal late in the period pretty much wrapped things up. It was great to see Toups score - she's a real hard worker who's done some great work on the PK for Darty so far this year.
A highlight for the Engineers was that they killed off a 5-min major in the 2nd with few threats from the Green. They also took advantage of several turnovers in our own end, but Clemis was so sharp, she stoned them cold. She looked completely in charge out there.
I had thought the game would be closer but perhaps Red just left it all down in Brighton the night before . . .

Congrats to Dartmouth goalie Carli Clemis for 3 consecutive shut-outs= v. Quinnipiac (3-0), Boston College (4-0) and RPI (5-0)!!:) :) :) :) new school record! and to Maggie Kennedy -ECAC Players of the Week
Kennedy, Clemis Tabbed as ECAC Hockey Weekly Award Winners

After a 3-0 week for the Dartmouth women’s hockey team, seniors Maggie Kennedy (West Hartford, Conn.) and Carli Clemis (Taber, Alta.) were both selected as weekly award winners by ECAC Hockey on Monday.

Kennedy was named ECAC Hockey Player of the Week after back-to-back three-point efforts in the wins over fourth-ranked Boston College and Union. She posted a goal and two assists in both games, while recording an assist in the win over Rensselaer for seven points in the three games. She is now tied with sophomore Amanda Trunzo (Andover, Minn.) for the team lead in points with 10 on the season.

Clemis had an amazing week with two shutouts to become the first Dartmouth netminder to record three-consecutive shutouts and was named ECAC Hockey Goaltender of the Week. She has not given up a goal in 184-plus minutes of ice time .

Also great attendance, especially for regular (non-playoff) game---

The fans really supports their program, having witnessed this first hand it is a great experience. I admire the support that is providied to the
"Big Green" as the players deserve the support. Some other schools could/should follow the example:)

Would anyone be surprised if St Lawrence and Clarkson were looking forward to Dartmouth visiting this weekend ? I would guess especially so for Clarkson who last season some fans believed should have been picked over Dartmouth for the playoffs . At the time ( last March ) in weighing the pros and cons as to which team deserved to be chosen , I decided Dartmouth merited the selection . Essentially based upon their strong finish and Clarkson ' s disappointing one . One could , perhaps , say - they ( Dartmouth - at the time ) wanted it more . So here with a two game visit to the true , ' North Country ' , the Green will need to look to continue to command events . St Lawrence might look at their contest with the Green as a chance to hike their rating back up to where they may think it belongs and was originally placed ; see a win over Dartmouth as a means to that end .
