We have had a "Best place to Eat Survey" a recuiting list thread, now it is time for a "Ice Survey" by school

My Interests are as follows, listing per school):

1 - Size of the rink (NHL-Size, Olympic Size, Undersized, Oddball size)
2 - Quality of the ice (Hard, Soft, variable)
3 - Quality of Dressing Rooms (Big vs Small, Luxury vs Basic)
4 - Size of facility (Seating)
5 - Age of Facility (New, 5-10, 10-20, older)

I found a site that lists information about college hockey rinks. (College Hockey Travel Guide) It does not go into ice quality though, as that's more subjective. Have fun!

Guess should have been more specific on the questionaire...

When it is oddball size does that mean wide and short, long and narrow, in between NHL and Olympic, or super sized ?.

You can put the Duluth DECC ice on the BOTTOM of any list.. even after they replaced the entire tubing/pipe system 2 years ago the ice is still terrible and occasionally along the walls a chunk about 4 inches will break... For years the ice was slow and soft.. and I don't think that's changed that much either.. hopefully in the NEW arena that is improved upon. I think we have the best sight-lines but the worst ice.

Hey DC...You just reached a major milestone. Part of the 4 digit club as this was your 1000th post...Already anticipating the 10000th post...By that time I might just be more often in your neck of the woods ??.

Hopefully I won't become one of those who post just for the sake of seeing the number rise! That said, if you plan on sending a D in this direction to play when I am approaching # 10,000, you had better be painting the nursery;)

Well the Travel Guide listed Mariucci at Minnesota, but not Ridder. I'll provide what I know, but brooky or ARM (or Charlie or MBTC) will have to provide the other details (ice surface and locker rooms).

Minnesota.... Ridder Arena... NHL dimensions... seats 3400*... 6 years old.

*Including seating outside Club Room and 9 suites.

I let our marketing person know she was missing an opportunity here and suggested she get the pertinant details to the Travel Guide folks listsed at the botom of the web site.
