I'm curious being I will be unable to make most games this year, how many of BC womens games are available over the web? Does anyone know who I would contact to get this info.? Is there a charge to watch? I have a computer that I can hook up to my TV and I'm hoping to watch the games at home this way.

You should be able to see all or most of the BC home games online. You can sign up for the season by going to the www.bceagles.com website and clicking on the ACC select. The feed is good to watch. You should wait until close to the hockey season to sign up so that you can see the schedule of what games will be shown and make sure it's worth it. But once you sign up, if you are interested, you can watch men's hockey or basketball, or whatever sport is playing.

rinkrat thanks for the feedback. I'm taking that this same process will work for away games, I would just need to go to the other schools website? Obviously I'm not the proficient with the web and computers.

BC broadcasts most of its games this way, but I'd say that most other schools won't. BC does so because of a deal with a company that provides the service for all ACC schools.

Well, they ought to make a deal with BU and get some announcers from the eastern end of Comm Ave. :p

I believe most other schools do indeed webcast the games but you have to sign up each time there is a game and pay a fee. Maybe other fans from other schools can jump in and tell us how their schools do it, but I really do think you can watch most every game. The good thing about BC is if you sign up for a season, you can go back and rewatch any game any time and also watch them live.

UMD uses b2 Networks to webcast their hockey games, home and away (at those schools who use b2). There is nominal fee for each game, but I think they have a season pass setup, too. Last year I watched (and recorded) both UMDW games at St. Lawrence for $6 each. The link to b2LiveTV is: http://www.b2livetv.com/. Others use different setups for webcasts, so probably is best to check the sports web sites for the schools you're interested in viewing.

Or get any two other people on campus.

Or just go with no commentary at all.

Yeah, if you go with ACC Select, mute it.

They were a lot better last year. They started to refer to the playing surface as ice, and not "court" and succesfully used the word puck in a sentence that had, in the past, gone something like "...and Spillane ices the ball for UNH" They were still having mix and match issues with the rosters though:rolleyes:

I love how they cannot get a player's name right. Last year I snuck a sheet with phonetic spellings of every player in their booth before a game.

It's not SHAY-US! Or THURNSTUM! I mean really, Thurnstum??

Well, we could always...ah, shall we say, dispose of them for a bit, and you could take over the broadcast. :p

I can hear it now: Joe and Tony in the booth, calling a great game, until the first pealty is called, resulting in two minutes of "ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh hhhhhhhhhh" , which those of us in the crowd would not be able to hear.

Great idea HUX:D :D :D :D

Followed by cursing, weird european soccer songs, and various comments about Jackie Thode.

No thanks.

I don't know if you've visited the ACC Select site recently, but there is no reference to BC men's or women's ice hockey webcasts for this season. Apparently they're only webcasting sports this year that all the ACC schools play, which doesn't include ice hockey. I don't know if BC is looking into alternatives like the B2 Network.

That's fine by me. The evil powers that be at Yahoo bought out ACC Select, and it sucks now. It costs more per month than I paid for an entire semester last year, and the video quality is a lot choppier than it was last year. I'll pass.

Hopefully, for the sake of fans around the country, BC hooks up with B2 Network. BC men's hockey would probably make a killing selling pay-per-view broadcasts online, since for some reason we are the only Big 4 Hockey East school without a TV partner [thanks, Gene!].

UNH doesn't have a TV partner anymore
