Three usual suspects plus St. Cloud meet in Duluth to battle for the conference tournament title. Who poses with the trophy?

where's the poll? :p
ahhh, there it is. This is one is too tough to predict...So I will just say its going to be either UMD, UM, or UW. :D

I'm gonna go with UM.
I'm the first person to pick UMD? I feel kind of dirty now. :o

My dilemma is that this season Minnesota beat Minnesota Duluth in three of the four meetings. Minnesota Duluth beat Wisconsin in three of the four meetings. And finally Wisconsin beat/tied Minnesota in three of the four meetings. All three teams are playing good hockey right now. I think UM is the hottest, while UW is looking solid, and UMD, while dramatic, is still pounding along. So a game between any of these three teams could just be day dependent.

I think Wisconsin gets it. They started off sluggishly, but they are on a roll and seem to do well against the Gophs.
I went with history. The #1 seed has won 7 of the 8 WCHA tourneys, and the one time they didn't (UM in 2001), it's because they didn't make it out of the semi. So nobody has won the WCHA title by beating 2 of UMD/UM/UW on consecutive days -- the task that faces both UM and UW. Perhaps part of that is that the #4 seed has usually not pushed the #1 seed that hard. Other that the OSU 4-0 win in 2001, the best result by a #4 seed in a semi was one 3-goal defeat. Maybe the 4th seed is due. Let's go Huskies! Huskies! Huskies!:D

SCSU and the Gumper live!
After I put my vote in.. it's amazingly close 11(UMD) 11(UM) 12(Bucky) voting in this poll.

It really seems to me to be a huge toss up between the top 3. Not taking anything away from my beloved Huskies, but I think the gap between the top 3 teams in the league and the other 5 teams is still to big for St. Cloud to beat two out of the three on one weekend. having said that, I had to vote for UMD. If one of them has to win, it might as well be the team that defeats SCSU.

Can I reserve my vote until after the semi-finals???
Depending on how well the preparation has gone this week, it could be anyones title. The home ice advantage should play well for UMD:mad:, however both the Badgers and Gophers played fairly well in the DECC this season...
The Huskies sort of picked it up and battled last weekend after quite the downward spiral. However, I think the Bulldogs are a bit more talented than SCSU, and especially given its a one and done, they wont be fooling around.
The Gophers and Badgers could honestly go either way. I felt that the Gophers pretty much controlled the series in Madison for the most part, and the Badgers controlled the series in Minneapolis.
Both games should be good.
I wish I was their in person. However its internet for me this time, and hopefully the badgers will be back for the Frozen Four in a few weeks, where I will be their live.
Hopefully the Internet in the DECC is behaving better this weekend so UW Women's Hockey can provide a web blog. I wonder if Adam will be blogging along for UWBadgers.com??
At least there is always the video feed ;)
Best of luck to the Badgers, Gophers, Huskies, and  Bulldogs......

I've been thinking about it...one of my favorite past national championship games was between Harvard and Minnesota (05). So I wouldn't mind seeing this match up again this year. Or a match up between Harvard and anyone else from the WCHA (minus SCSU). I would rather not see an all WCHA final again. And a WCHA/HE (i.e UNH) wouldn't be so bad either...its just that I prefer the ECAC to HE.
It's nice to see one UMD men's hockey fan who came in and voted for the UMD women in the poll.
