View Full Version : Who Do You Predict Will Win the HEA Tournament?
BC wound up as odd team out in the rush to secure a top four spot and entry into the tournament. Can anyone knock UNH from their perch?

If anyone has a chance, it would be PC.

I'd agree with that. Although Yukon did get the #2 seed, they really didn't impress me the times I saw them. A good squad, but I think PC has a higher ceiling.
That said, UNH is the obvious pick here.

PC is a physical team that will not give an inch to the 'Cats. On the same size 200x85 surface that they play on at home PC, the Friars might just do it.
With that said, I don't think UNH loses from this point forward.

At first glance, unless the thought was that BU would knock off UNH, UConn being in 2nd place seemed a bit odd. Then I saw whose votes they were. ;)

UConn has no chance against UNH. In the regular season they played UNH just about the same as Northeastern did. At least Providence tied UNH and BU took them to overtime.

The one thing that can save this women's hockey season for me is if there's an upset in the ECAC and/or WCHA tournament and Yukon gets bumped from the NCAAs.
Well, that and UNH bringing home a national title for Hockey East.

As of right now sUeCONN is #10 in the PWR.
I imagine that a loss to PC would pretty much kill their chances, even if Clarkson and Dartmouth both lost in the ECAC semis, although I would have to check the comparisons.
According to dave's calculations in the bracket thread, if CU and DC lose in the ECAC semis, and UC beats PC but loses to UNH (as they'd be out if it were BU), they may just barely squeak out the 8th spot on the RPI tiebreaker (assuming no WCHA upsets of course).
If UC doesn't win HEA, and either CU or DC win their semi (but not both...as one would have to take the auto bid), then the Huskies would almost certainly be out.
Had to pick Providence for it's UMD connections with Pehkonen and Danielle Ciarletta. No other reason really :)

I do like that Mari girl. ;)
I do like that Mari girl. ;)
She's not the smoothest skater (always looked like she was running) but she always gets where she needs to be on the ice.

I don't make predictions, but I wouldn't bet money against Sunday's game being the two old rivals again.
I'm kind of surprised that the Friars aren't getting much love. They didn't have a great weekend vs BC, but how can you count out the Goons in the playoffs?
