There have been few good "arguments" as of late on this board...so I thought I would start a thread about the best players on bad teams...a "sub .500 All-American team" if you will. Lets hear some nominations.
I'll even start it off with some goaltenders
Rachel Stemerman- Wesleyan
Vanessa Carter- Castleton

Mel Gerten G St Kates. .926 save percentage...gave up only 8 goals on 117 shots last weekend.
technically Lake Forest is sub .500 so i can say Courtney Dehoey..eventhough she is probably in contention for a real All-American award.
And then i'd say Ashley Leitch and Danielle Syrowik, senior forwards from Finlandia.

Now this is getting down right scary. First I find out gojackets does not drink beer. I don't drink beer. Then before I can post something about Ms. Gerten slowjackets beats me to the post. Having anything in common with Mr. Jacket is making me consider taking up drinking beer.
Anyway, not to take anything away from St. Thomas Lauren Bradel, MIAC player of the week, but Mel Gerten had to have been second in that voting. Come on, 74 shots by the 3rd ranked team in the country and she only allows 3 goals. GAC took a lot of good shots but because of Gerten and her excellent defense there were not many rebounds to be had. That St. Kate's Bethel game Thursday is going to be good. And if St. Kate's can win Thursday the Friday matchup will determine you gets to play next week and who is done for the season. Might just have to take in the Thursday game. Good luck Katies and great effort last weekend.

Kristen Faber, forward from Eau Claire. And agree about DeHoey from LF but doubtful she will be an All-American contention. I think she only has like 20 pts.

they don't always just go by points. I wouldn't be surprised to see her get a big NCHA award.

Agreed on the point issue. But are you talking about DeHoey getting NCHA player of the year nod? Very doubtful. I looked her up -- she is 10th in scoring behind some very sold Stevens Point and Superior players. DeHoey is a solid player but she's not a difference maker like Baranzelli or Grossman. Those two can win or lose a game just by themselves.

Meghan Sweezey on Saint Michael's leads her team with 7 goals, 13 assists for 20 points.

Jill Campbell FY FW Bowdoin
She'll be a force to be reckoned with in the coming years. Great sense of the ice and she is a finisher.

I agree with you about Finlandia. Kendra Benson is another strong player for them, however, I think Sara Sleik woould have stayed for her senior year if thing were going a little smoother. Many great solid individuals on Finlandia, they just can't find the right groove to work together.

Every weekend? Give them some credit...they struggle but they have won games this season.
