There's no excusing the players conduct in the brawls that have taken place this season, but they've all got one additional cause: inconsistent to poor officiating. Adam lost control of the Gophers/UND tilt early, much as the officials in the Canisius/RIT game are reported to have done.
The league commissioners can send as much of a message to their officials with some reprimands/suspensions as they can to the players.

Much as I hate to agree with a Gopher fan, I believe that in the WCHA poor officiating has been the cause of many incidents this year. The WCHA has already suspended one official for the season and there are others that clearly need to be cleaned out. For a league with the history of the WCHA, the product of the current group of officials is embarrassing. I used to believe that college hockey was far better than NHL hockey, because of the all of the clutching and holding in the NHL. Now the roles are reversed in the WCHA. The NHL has become more entertaining and the WCHA has become obstructionist.
