Back this week after the flu/cold everyone seems to be getting

Rutter Division I Women's Ice Hockey Computer Ranking Top Ten

Through Games of Sunday, February 3rd.

Rating is based on wins, loses, and ties only. Margin of victory and game location are not included in the rating. A team's rating from the previous year is used as an initial weight using a Bayesian approach.

Wayne St. at number 11. I picked them a number 10 in my fan poll last week...16-6-2 record, I would like to see them give MC a challenge this week.

Quick question I had, related to the new QOTW (or more like month rather) -- statistically according to your model, what are the biggest upsets of this season? i.e. the rarest events that occured?

I guess in comparing wins and ties, you'd look at the prob of just the win for the upset win, and the prob of a win or tie for the upset tie.

Off the top of my head, I think Bemidji tying Wisconsin is the biggest upset tie, while Vermont beating Providence is probably the biggest upset win.

Outcome with lowest probability of happening (assuming ratings of Monday, Feb 11):

Bemidji tying Wisconsin: 1.9%

Bemidji tying or beating Wisconsin: 3.08%

Vermont over Providence: 3.12%

RMU over Clarkson: 5.4%

So, you are correct Dave. I will now go vote for Bemidji and Wisconsin.
